We first introduced the winged helmet in 2016 (in the Heart of Dallas Bowl if I remember correctly).

Rice actually first did a version in 1990...

...which is even before Oregon first did it in 2012.

Rice did have a cooler version come out in 2013, which is still before we first did ours.

It's not just you.  It's too big to fit correctly on the helmet, but if it was smaller, it would look peony.  Thus, I like the oversized wing version.
