There was a change in recruiting two classes ago, but the benefits (if any) will come in a couple years.

Sorry but there is no guarantee with the high school recruits.  If anything we have learned through UAB, USU and now SMU its that to be an elite G5 you must embrace and win the transfer game.  We recruited a juco defensive end that didn't have grades.  SMU pulled in 17 top notch transfers and many of them were on the field including the DB transfer from UCLA who TOOK OUT our top WR and of course the QB Buchele who was just outstanding.  WE MUST EMBRACE THE TRANSFER GAME.  Ignoring it will not work.

And the DB transfer from UCLA played RB at UCLA if the announcers were correct.

I never said otherwise. Another way to look at the current situation is, we just need to see better players. The current product is the result of below-average CUSA players.

Isn’t the transfer game a risk, too? How many times the last 20 years have we seen transfers not pan out?

I do agree that SMU and UAB situations need to make us re-evaluate how much weight should be put on HS recruits.

I really wanted to yell as loud as I could during any quiet period in the game-"We are sick and tired of this".

"This" being the long term lack of follow through on any success and just the huge let down in general that is felt by the long-term fan. The fans showed up and it felt like we were trying to will our team to victory, just won't ever be enough. Did anyone else feel this way? Would you have joined in? Feeling drained.
