Since 2000 UNT has won 3, and SMU has won 4. I might be a partisan, but wins from the Coolidge and Hoover Administrations aren't that relevant.

These 3-4 or 3-5 splits with other regional opponents, like HU or TX Tech, etc. are interesting to consider, it demonstrates the growth of our program and an opportunity to even the series - which is great for UNT.

But I like the idea of a series with history, over several years, decades. That’s great for the game.

You must have not attended the ACU game or maybe you left at half.  If you really have no concerns about our defense, I want some of whatever you are drinking.

Man, am I bucking the betting trends in this game taking North Texas. Not only has the favorite covered every time in the last five games between these teams, but North Texas is 0-7 ATS in their last seven games and 0-4 ATS in their last four road games. Still, Fine will have a big game, but the Mean Green will come up with some big defensive stops and they will not turn the ball over. They may not get the W, but they will cover the short spread in what will be a high scoring and close game.

Prediction: PICK: North Texas

The offense brings back all but one of the top six receivers and the offensive line should be improved, bringing in Virginia Tech grad transfer D’Andre Plantin to play left tackle. The defense is going to be an adventure for North Texas, as they lose a ton but are anchored in the back by a pair of senior safeties, and defensive end Ladarius Hamilton is a beast. Outside of that, it’s a bunch of fairly unknown commodities and it might be a struggle early in the season. Shane Buchele is an upgrade over Ben Hicks and SMU brings back a ton of talent, but this North Texas offense is as good as it gets in the Group of Five level and SMU is going to struggle to stop them. My prediction is a North Texas win over SMU, 41-35.
