As another football season looms, just where do things stand in Conference USA?

Here in this booming Dallas exurb, a landscape of construction scaffolds and hard hats anchored by the Cowboys’ lavish practice facility, Conference USA on Wednesday hung its Stetson on a trophy that greeted attendees at the league’s football media days.

It’s the Bowl Challenge Cup, won by C-USA last year for going 4-2 in postseason games.

The previous three winners were the Big Ten, the ACC and the SEC.

“To me, that tells everybody who we are,” said Alabama-Birmingham coach Bill Clark, whose team won the league championship last year.
