UTSA’s new rival is...Texas??

Recommended Posts

As for the future, the Roadrunners have games lined up against the University of Texas. Starting in 2022, the Roadrunners will play the Longhorns every other season in Austin, Texas. This matchup is highly anticipated and is expected to soon be a rival for the small San Antonio school.

Speaking to the media for the first time since UTSA announced a five-game series against Texas, Roadrunners coach Frank Wilson called the games “tremendously significant.”

UTSA will travel to Austin to face Texas in 2022, 2024, 2026, 2028 and 2030.

“Our desire was to be the best we can be and maximize our potential,” Wilson said. “The only way we can do that is to play people like that.”

UTSA will keep going back as long as Bevo leaves the money on the nightstand.

What a horrible way to build a program.

We werent there too long ago... taking body bag games to get $$$.

I think UTSA had put the cart before the horse building this program.  Now they are having to take their lumps and call it a "rivalry"

Doesn't matter how you polish it... its still a turd

Weren't they getting Oklahoma State & Arizona to come play at their rental stadium at one point? Looks like they are now falling into whoring status. The new car smell of the program has worn off.

I think they did a bunch of 2 for 1 series to do that. This is the consequence.

Their new enemy is reality of making a poor hire and watching their program lose its enthusiasm.

UTSA blew a golden opportunity with all those built in advantages from their market to their stadium being big enough to bring P5 schools down there. Now, they are just another UT system school, who at least still has their Super Bowl opponent on the schedule every year in CUSA West.
