Gee maybe a little more background on Mooney.  Was he the fg kicker in high school and if so what were his stats in high school.  I guess I can look it up but it might have added to the story.

2018:
• Averaged 57.9 yards per kickoff on 79 attempts with 32 touchbacks during his first season on campus in 12 appearances
• Made his North Texas debut on 9/8 vs. Incarnate Word when he took over kickoff duties

High School:
• Was 23-for-26 on extra points as a senior and 5-of-9 on field goal attempts
• Had a season-long field goal of 46 yards

I'm guessing SL doesn't believe in giving a scholly to a kicker out of HS?  We can't count on landing a Cole Hedlund-type transfer every year.  If we want another Trevor Moore, it's probably going to take a scholly.

Mooney came in with good credentials as did Zach Williams.  Williams had these stats coming out of high school:

High School:
• Named a 2016 Kicking World All-American
• Made 85-of-86 PAT attempts as a senior at Trinity HS, while booming 81% of his kickoffs for touchbacks (62-of-77)

You still don’t understand.  There’s a chance that a potential Mean Green fan and DRC reader suddenly fell out of the sky this week and might not have a full grasp of the past.  Because without a full grasp of the past,..(as opposed to info a normal sports fan like you would be interested in as you look toward the future),.....the fan and DRC reader cannot be reminded just how fortunate their favorite team was to have past success.   

It’s an effed up point of view of sports reporting,.....one you would be hard pressed to see survive for very long in any other place in the country, but Denton.

That's all nice...but FG's are what is most important.  We need a kicker consistent from 40 yards and in, with a range past 50.
