Cedric Hardman passed away

Recommended Posts

What very sad news. I had the privilege of sitting next to him for the last game I saw at Fouts; UNT vs Utah State.  He is a North Texas legend and great example. RIP.

I never understood why he never got more credit, both here and in the NFL. He had over 130 sacks in his career at SF, which is more than Charles Haley.  He was credited with being one of the first "designated pass rushers" when he played at Oakland,  which extended his career. He made the pro bowl twice and was all pro twice.

Around the time that he was drafted, he bought a new car and had vanity plates put on it that said "NASTY".

Hardman was great, probably the second best defensive lineman ever at NT.   His acclaim at NT was hindered by being on the same team as Greene.

Greene, Hardman and Dunlap were a string of three straight first round draft choices for NT.

John Madden gave him plenty of credit, calling him one of the best pass rushers in NFL history {in his book One Knee Equals Two Feet}
