“Former Adidas executive and 2 others sentenced to prison for role in college basketball recruiting scandal.”

Quote

U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan said he had to balance the need for a stern message with the realization that others who did similar crimes were not prosecuted in a widespread college basketball recruiting scandal that has tainted two dozen schools.

No wonder the same damn 25--plus schools stay ranked every year.

Those shoe companies, along with the national media, all know where the big money is at—hence these network dollars and endorsements and cheating to help make their brands grow. All done with a complicit NCAA and every level of government.

What I long for is that bunch of semi pros to leave the NCAA to create their own setup where paying players and not attending class is just fine. Let them be the NFL and NBA lite programs. And then let the rest of us actually play amateur, true college sports. To basically shut out an entire level of play from even getting a chance to play for a national championship is ridiculous and that the G5’s choose the money for this arrangement tells you all you need to know about the blatant unfairness known as FBS. I’d take a chance at a national championship for our team of unpaid football players versus the setup we have now any day. Playing one body bag game a year to pay for non revenue sports while praying to somehow win it and be the top G5 to play another NFL-lite program seems downright sad to a lot of us. Our kids, our coaches, and our fans deserve to know that our team has a chance to win a national title every season.

Creating a higher level of college competition would kill other programs not help them.  Who won the national FCS championship last year, you may know; but I and most of America do not.

NT playing in 1aa was a disaster for the program that took years to recover from.

Yes, it was a disaster, the I-aa thing. But part of it that was disastrous was playing schools that nobody heard or cared about each week. That isn’t the case anymore. And back then, the funding differences between the P5s and G5’s wasn’t this cavernous. Their network $$$ alone give them a gigantic leap on the rest of us. Look at UH, who tried to spend their way into the Big XII, only to get rejected. That’s an annual revenue difference of around $25-$30 million dollars just from TV contracts. That’s why they lost Briles to Baylor, Sumlin to A&M, and Herman to UT. It’s not competitive at all at this point.

But the P5 big guys have no reason whatsoever to be made to play teams like us on a more even playing field. They made their advantages with their fanbases and got their lucrative money from TV and conferences. Schools like us, SMU, UH, UTEP, and others in the G5 didn’t. But making our kids think we are on equal terms when we have no shot at a national championship is beyond unfair. The NCAA and these state and federal legislatures aren’t gonna pick up the torch for G5’s or FCS with the money being so much larger for the P5’s, so it’s either stick with what we have, which is a joke, or hope something changes. To me, playing our schedule except for a P5 OOC game, with the right to earn a national championship is a much better path forward today as a relegated down program (which it already is, just not officially) than it was in the 80’s with podunk schools in the SLC versus the current G5’s we play now.

Shit is running rampant in both bball and football. Here is a doozy of an article about Will Wade at LSU getting himself in hot water. Can't go from Johnny to a probable 2 seed within a few yeard without there being question marks. And even then, Johnny landed Ben Simmons and he's been pretty open on what he thinks about the educational system. So one has to assume Johnny was involved with the Simmons signing as well.

Cheating coaches need to be banned from coaching. The consequences have to far outweigh the reward.
