Let’s use this thread to track players who don’t yet have offers but have received attention from the staff (ie visits) or who we think are worthy of recruiting.

I think the number of offers going out to guys who don't have any other offers yet is indicative of the relationships Littrell's staff are building with high school coaches across the state.   The other offers will usually come later.

"Hey Coach XYZ,  we're having a Junior Day.  You got any players to send up?   ...."   And those coaches will send their best players up because he recognizes we have legit coaches & a program on the rise.

Whereas during the McCarney days, we may have a Jr Day, and the dudes those same coaches sent (if any) would be dudes that were not his top players (more like FCS caliber guys), because of the lack of relationship-building, perception, and losing a lot.   And during the Dodge days, we got some players early due to his relationships, but once they saw the lack of success, they stopped sending their best guys.

bingo. and its good to build relationships with kids that have the potential to blow up their senior year. You hear alot of time in the NFL how teams will stick with there board. UNT does the sa,e things. They stick to there board and dont get excited and throw out a bunch of non commital offers or guys you have to pull there offers later.

It's difficult to take this as gospel. If true, this is a huge disservice X coach was doing to his own high school players by not giving them every available platform.  Hard to imagine a HS coach would do that just because X college coaching staff hasn't stroked his ego enough.

Of course there are more folds to it.
It was quite obvious McCarney did not find any value in building any kind of relationships with any of the HS coaches out there, and on top of the lack of relationships, we were losing.   So, say we sent out Jr. Day invites, and there were Jr Days at SMU, North Texas, Tulsa, & LATech on the same weekend, North Texas would likely bring in ZERO 3*-type guys (like the ones that are coming in lately).  Rather, the HS coaches would take the opportunity to send their borderline/FCS-type guys up here while their better players visited other schools.

Whereas now, in the same scenario, we'd likely bring in quite a few 3*/4* guys, and in some cases, they're choosing to come up to see what's going on at NT over other offers for visits.
