Question:  Itshard to tell from the highlight videos, but did EWU utilize an up tempo offense?

Seems like with any system that uses a lot of presnap motion that it is a lot of working parts to keep at that pace throughout an entire four quarters.  At some point your own players on offense gotta get a  breath.

Score in 5-7 plays and there's no reason to even sub.

Here is Eastern Washington's stat card from last season.  They were #3 in total offense and # 4 in scoring offense while staying balanced (#10 in rushing and #20 in passing offense).  The only (minor) downside is TOP, where they ranked 117th out of 124.  But I'm OK with this if teams are constantly chasing you from behind.  Furthermore, you're never really out of a game if you can strike quickly.  Should be an exciting season.

Impressive record considering having a defense ranked 68th.

It is hard on the defense.  Look at teams that run up tempo.  They all struggle on defense to a degree.  Defense has always been Tech's Achilles Heal, OU's defense dropped in the rankings once they went up temp, and other teams that run this system seem to give up a lot of points.  Good depth is the key.  Imagine playing Army for instance, a team that eats of the clock with long possessions.  They wear down a defense, and when your goals is to score in 5 to 7 plays, your defensive players are not getting a chance to really rest.  We need defensive depth.

But if you are effective then you score 40-60 and their defense is completely worn out. Maybe you give up 30 or more but you can still win. See 2017 FAU.
