Great performance by the defense!

If the offense can match the defense’s intensity next week, we win going away.

We gotta dominate on all three phases to dominate their A.

It’s a spoiling kind of D, especially after the last few years where we couldn’t enjoy a lead for long.

Great job - the best of both worlds today in the second half.

Bend, don't break for sure today. Lots of yards, especially passing, but only 7 points. I would take that every week.

After a horrible first half, the offensive line slowly but surely took over the game. Big boy football come forth quarter from our line.

I agree with the above posts...those were also the types of observations I made. So, all I can add is...

The whole D was on point.

Ejiya really starting to collect the production numbers needed to get drafted with his frame. I still believe he will be the one to break the drought.

One of our better defensive outings I can recall against a non powderfuff oppenent in the Seth Litrell era. Only seven freaken points allowed.

Two takeaways on the day, the defensive line was getting pressure and sacking the quarterback. I know one sack was negated because of an unsportsmanlike penalty but as a whole, defense shut down Southern Miss.

There are 3 NT guys (Hall, Brooks, Muhammed) in the top 50 in passes defended (Hall only played 5 games and is still 8th nationally).  3 are in the top ten in interceptions, and another one in the top 100! No surprise, UNT leads the nation in interceptions and is 5th in passes defended.

And yet opponents have kept passing on UNT, partially because they were even more afraid of the run defense!

I just looked it up. my adopted player Ejiya is now second nationally in tackles for loss with 14. That is 2 per game!. Garner is no slouch either at 9.5 (ranked 23rd).

To be fair though, UAB might be the first team UNT will face that is actually really proficient at and focused on the run (none of the previous opponents rank in the top half of FBS when it comes to rushing yards/game, UAB is 21st). The next game will test the depth there. Still, there is really no immediate reason to distrust the defense.
