This map is stupid.  We own Arkansas and half of Texas.

Yeah I've read the rules and I'm a little bit confused here

It's not that confusing:

1) Everyone starts out with every county that is closest to them.

2) If you lose, the team that beats you takes any land you currently own.

3) If you win, you take any land they currently own.

4) Remember: it's cumulative.

So:

Week 1) We beat SMU, take their land.

Week 2) UIW is an FCS, and FCS schools get no land assigned, so they could have taken our land and SMU's if they beat us.  We won, no land changed hands.

Week 3) We beat Arkansas, their land had already been taken by CSU.  No land changes hand.

Week 4) Liberty owns no land, their land was taken by Army.  They can take our land and SMU's land if they beat us.  If we beat them we keep our land but gain none.

Week 5) Currently, LaTech has their land and USA's.  If they lose to LSU, LSU gets it and we get no land for beating them.  If LaTech somehow beats LSU, they will get LSU's land.  That includes LSU's original land, and the land Auburn and Miami had claimed.

Week Etc) Etc.

It's just a silly game with arbitrary rules.

So basically you can go undefeated and if every team on your schedule loses the week before you play them, then you will end up at the end of the year with only your original land and the original land of the team you beat the first game of the year (unless they are an FCS team that has no land).

hypothetically, if a team played an FCS school for their first game and went undefeated... they could technically gain absolutely no land.

Yes.  It's just a silly game to keep football nerds occupied until next week.  No one is basing the access bowl slot off this formula.

Looking at our schedule:

Liberty: No gain, even if we win.

La Tech: if they win against LSU, and we win against them, we get all La Tech and LSU land. If they lose, no gain

UTEP: Already beaten by WSU, so no gain.

USM: They play Auburn the week before us. If they lose, and we beat USM, we gain nothing.

UAB: Plays Charlotte, La Tech, and Rice before us. If they beat all of them (expected), and we beat them, we gain all of La Tech's seemingly reclaimed land.

That's enough for now.

Do you have a flag? No flag no country.  Those are the rules that I just made up.
