They have four FBS wins against teams that are a combined 3-29. They've allowed 30 ppg (450 ypg) vs winning teams, 11 ppg (254 ypg) vs  non winning teams. Against winning teams, they allow the worst yards/play in the league.

That's a huge swing. 

In conference, we've allowed over 400 total yards only twice. 415 (so barely) to USM and the egregious 80 million to FAU.

In general, this defense performs about average in giving up yardage - which typically comes in chunks by way of two or three broken plays per game. That needs experience and film room. Additionally, we need to tighten up in the red zone, which is Horrid with a capital H.

Yards really arent the issue. We are avg in that area yes when you take away FAU. Its points 34 ppg when you take FAU out. That would be in 100's of scoring defense. Pretty much giving up a TD every time when our opponent crosses the 40.

When their defense plays good teams, they've had similar results to our defense. Their defense allows a full yard per play more than us against winning FBS teams. They're as average as us but for points allowed which is the more significant issue. I'm not defending NT here, I'm dismissing UTSA.

Exactly. Literally every time a conference opponent gets into the red zone they score. Reducing teams' trips into the red zone is key for the rest of the season. I think the point differential will even out the rest of the way with 3 of the most explosive offenses behind us.

Scoring defense is the real issue, imo. Too many are worried about rankings.

      St. Johns is one of the great sleeping giant jobs in the nation. They have a fantastic basketball history (they haven't been that great for the last generation or so, but the Johnies do have a helluva tradition) going back about 80 years and they play in NYC at MSG.

      Recent Past With all the excitement over Tylor Perry we quickly forgot about the best player from our recent past. The stats and awards bear it out. In my mind the answer is Javion Hamlet. No other player has accomplished what he has. https://meangreensports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/javion-hamlet/4731 Imagine what he would have accomplished if the 2020 NCAA Tournament had not been cancelled. We won the Conference in 2020 and arguably that was the best team we have ever had.

      Judge orders Florida State, ACC to mediation to settle suit

      A majority of schools could just vote to dissolve the ACC. There would be a court fight, but eventually schools that want out will be released with some greatly reduced financial penalty. It's like a divorce, you can't keep someone in an unhappy relationship, even with a contract. It will happen probably before the end of next year at the pace things are moving.

      The ACC has a media rights deal that runs through 2036 with massive financial penalties to leave. ACC schools make more money per school than the Big 12. The PAC had no media deal and zero financial penalty to leave the conference. The two situations couldn't be more different. ACC schools do not want to associate themselves with the likes of WVU, Cincy, UCF, Texas Tech, OK State and the other Truck Stoppers.
