Always wonder why folks think this should impact our game.  We are UNT not Texas or Zero U.  UNT is our University...our team.

The Texas - OU weekend spurs lots of parties and celebrations, people are just joining the fun. Hard to blame the customer, you might as well chastise the fan-base and see how well that works. But with the good weather, and some crossed fingers plus the efforts of our new AD maybe the impact will be minimized.

I really don't think a game that our fans are going to watch on TV that will be over at least three hours before our's starts is going to have a significant effect on our attendance.

Based on our history, I think between 17k and 18k will be there regardless of other games.

It is actually much bigger than that to many. Growing up in Dallas it was one of the biggest area games each year. Plus every year we have a home game the same weekend it puts a dent in our attendance.  Hard to ignore.

TX/OU play at 1100. No excuse not to come out.

Exactly.

But it is truly the sad truth that our students and alumni care as much as about big games featuring Texas and A&M as they do ours, if not more so. Its better today than it has been in probably forever, but its still there.

I'm glad that this game isn't starting close to Texas-OU, but I also bet you that some people won't come because of the top ten game between A&M-Tennessee game being on at 2:30 this afternoon.

I imagine that this game will have about 17k in reported attendance...

I just don't think we have a lot of people who regularly attend our games but will miss this week because they are going to Texas-OU. I'm certain their are a few, but I don't think it's even 1,000. The overlap just isn't that large.

For those watching on TV - and I'll probably be one of those - it's going to be over well before time to leave for our game if you live in anywhere in the Metroplex.

I can tell you it affects our tailgate more than I like. Is it going to keep a die hard away, hell no. I never meant that but it is the general masses that it really hits. I would bet a few thousand.

Look I hope we get to the point where the Texas (Strong is about to lose his job) -OU game has absolutely no impact on us except reinforce college football.

It starts out as a party for Tx-Ou and then other games are watched and the party never ends and no one wants to drive to Denton at that point. Especially if Texas wins.

Texas-OU should not impact our attendance, but it will.

It impacts those of us who come from out of town.  I'll be watching our game on TV because hotels are booked up (especially along I-35), and those that aren't are charging almost double their regular rates.  And, the drive home on Sundays on I-45 is normally pretty heavy, this Sunday would be a real beat-down.  I can't imagine how bad I-35 would be.

The sad reality is for way too many people, UNT may be their university, but it is definitely not their team. Hopefully Baker and Littrell can change this

It is sad but has been going on a long time.. While a student in the early 70's, I recall the NT Daily gave the OU-Texas game more coverage than our own game.

It is not just the Texas OU game that draws the college crowd, but the State Fair itself is a huge draw that day. It seems to always impact our turnout. Inconsistent play by UNT after the first quarter last Saturday will dampen interest among the fair-weather fans. There is nothing to replace the impact of family weekend that pretty much filled the lower section of the wing last week.

On the other hand, this could be the easiest (or least challenging) of our three remaining home games, and this is our last 6:00 home start. The forecast calls for great weather. The sun is setting earlier each week and will not be hitting the student section very long.

Could be under 20 thousand for this one.
