This says a lot more about Brett's treatment than it does about the actual outcome of the game. 

"Brett, we will give you a parking pass if you will pick us to win this week"- Overheard by source sitting behind Wren Baker and Brett Vito at lunch at the Texas Pickup on Tuesday. 

That source is rock solid.

Pep Talk time...

I bleed Green, trust me...But on paper, and if you hang your hat on statistics, the math is not on our side. Not necessarily from a talent point of view, just from the reasoning that we were awful last year, and this is an entirely new Regime, new staff, new everything.  Does that mean we don't have a chance? OH HELL NO!  How quickly we forget...Remember the first game at Apogee against Houston?  Do you remember how amped up we were?  First game at home, against a team we were supposed to lose to, on paper...Ultiimately we did, but holy crap the team was jumping on Houston early!   For about the first half, the defense was Case Keenum's worst nightmare. Forced him to get called on two intentional grounding calls, and the crowd was so loud, they would get flagged for false starts. I remember watching the press conference after the game, and Case  Keenum said something like "we settled down and won, but we NOT expecting that kind of energy from their stadium and team..."

My point is this....If we can jump out on SMU that early in the game, with that same kind of intensity, and the crowd make that kind of noise, then SMU will have their hands full.  SMU fans love to state that their program is so much more advanced than UNT... Then why don't they come out in droves to Denton?  (And I'm not just talking about 2014...That was their worst fan showing, but each time I can recall them coming to Denton in the past 30 years, it's always lack-luster...)Because they don't have that same confidence when they play us in Denton...They may like their odds "on paper" against us, but not in Denton they don't...

So everyone here needs to get to the game, and bring friends, and get violently loud. Let's help our team jump out early, and again scare their 43 fans for 4 quarters...

"Let it Fly" is not a call arms just for the team, it's for all of us...

After Saturday, we're going to put out some new stats "on paper" indeed...

See you on game day...

      The Athletic on DFW Football recruiting

      You'll see that you will enjoy your time and money a lot more. I quit about 2 years ago, when it became apparent that G5s were just minor leagues for the P5s. I knew it was coming, as I posted about this exact situation for years before on here. And there will be many others that are much higher up the foodchain than us who will see this happen to. I see the breakaway having 30-50 schools for their own athletics. Really, if the top 24 schools wanted to form their own setup, they could easily. Texas, A&M, OU, LSU, etc...they all have the eyeballs and the media and the legislative support from their states. I loved getting 6+ hours back on Saturdays in the fall. I loved using those funds towards family trips and better entertainment opportunities for all of us. like concerts and golf. To be honest, the time was better to get back than the money. More time with family and friends on the weekend, as well as more time for stuff with church and the community was the best surprise of all. I don't even blame players for getting theirs, either. More money and more exposure in the P5s that these guys grew up rooting for and dreaming of playing for all adds up to an easy decision for these guys. Basically, the players are catching up to what the coaches got to do without any qualms for years. Again, if we hadn't quit on the program back in the early 80's with the ridiculous drop down to i-aa when the SWC was one of the kings of the NCAA, it just nuked the program. You lost generations of fans and alumni from the past and the future, most of whom just picked up another school to root for or just become pro fans only, all while completely dropping the program's status with TX HS coaches and parents, maybe things would be different today, I'd like to guess at a minimum, we could have been a UH type program, maybe higher because of our location. Had we had any vision, the old Big Eight would have been the perfect conference to go all in to join instead of the SWC. We could have given that entire league a DFW presence, instead of just OU. And getting to play OU, Nebraska, Colorado, OSU, KU, KSU, Missouri, and ISU as conference mates in both football and hoops would have jumped us over ALL of the SWC privates. UH and Tech would've been peers instead of being steps above us as SWC members. But we didn't...we just gave up.

      Doesn't seem new, but unlimited transfers

      I applaud his effort to become innovative. Let's try something like this - corporate sponsors provide a pool of money that is made available based on performance in the league and all-conference teams. Graduating players would get their bonus in the year it happens, while players with remaining eligibility would get their bonus at the beginning of the following football season once school has started (which would mean that they are still enrolled in the same school where they performed and gained the all-conference honors). This would perhaps entice players not to bolt once they have success.

      I think it's pretty clear that Deion wants a revolving door of players every year. And his best players are staying, and at least some of those who entered the portal were encouraged to do so.

      This seems to be the norm that we will live with in college football. But in Dion's case, when you recruit players with a sales pitch on doing what is best for "me," don't be surprised when they have no loyalty to you.

      Spring transfer portal

      I mean like wow, we must have the highest exit rate of any program pertaining to NIL. I think UNT needs to focus on one and done guys that will graduate or whatever until these type of NIL and portal rules get addressed by our politicians.
