Missouri almost came to Apogee

What people don't understand is that the biggest win would be with UNT's own alums, many of whom assume UNT plays in a lower division due to the crap teams that RV consistently brought to Apogee.

When you schedule like an FCS, even your own alums will believe you ARE an FCS.

It's been pointed out to you time and again those other programs are also playing P5s at home, yet you ALWAYS ignore this fact when making this argument.

Agenda much?

I think a brand new AD will have 30 minutes to spare after hours to call into a podcast for the most ardent supporters of his program.

I think he will have ANYTHING better to do.

At least I hope he does.

But that doesn't fit his agenda.

The problem isn't the FCS games. The problem is they happen EVERY year and we NEVER schedule a P5.

Why is that?

Not true. Well, not entirely true.

I understand the power, just not how it works.

I think there will be bigger media venues that he will have access to.

I do agree with you but I won't care two sh*ts if he never calls in as long as the positive results are there. I'd say I won't even care ONE sh*t.

Stop trying to heal this deep wound to our souls.  Having a chance to get missou here and turning it down? I don't care if it is a 100% fabricated story.  This hurts.

FBS Schools Losing to FCS Opponents by 59 points in 2015

North Texas

At least bring in an FCS team you can compete with. In all seriousness, the problem is RV didn't bring anyone to Denton like he promised. Show me a list of teams that consistently can't bring anyone to their home field with 5 home games, like us, and I'll be impressed.

Even Helwig with Fouts found ways to get A&M and Kansas to come play us in the Metroplex or Oregan State to come to Fouts. I could go on but the bottom line is the scheduling has been bad to put it mildly.

The number is well below 17.  More like 5 or 6.

With RV now finally gone, and possibly some immediate house cleaning and a demand for some accountability it could grow to 7 or 8 real quick.

Rick

The alumni engagement could potentially swing positively, exponentially, in numbers we can't even imagine.

@Cerebus has hinted at it before, when posting about lack of season ticket sales/MGC membership numbers...even as we continually graduate thousands of new alumni every semester.  A huge black eye on the face of RV's resume.

Can you imagine how much money could flow into our department if we start accumulating, say, 100+ new donations/memberships/ticket holders every year**, after 5-10 years? 20 years? And that per year number, IMO, is meager.

I don't know if the Baker/SL hires will be the hires that get us to turn the corner, but it has always been in the back of my mind how silent disengaged our humongous alumni base is.  Maybe we will finally see this sleeping giant wake up in our lifetime?

**I should be able to join those numbers starting this coming year. *crossing fingers*

In Texas, there are two FCS schools worth scheduling--SFA and SHSU, two teams that have lots of Texan connections and have fans that will buy tickets.

Portland state beat us by 59 points, on our Homecoming, in the worst loss in modern FBS football history. But, to put salt in the wound, they probably didn't have 50 people here for the game, nor did anyone new choose to come over to Apogee for the game, but it sure cost us thousands of fans who decided that this was not something to watch anymore. That game cost us $400k and we didn't get any help that a SFA or SHSU would have given us at the gate.

I agree that playing SFA and SHSU would be a good idea.  I would also add in ACU which I know is on our future schedule.  We should have rotating schedules with SFA, SHSU, ACU and NMSU.  Much like we seem to play Texas every few years or LSU.  We should line up some drive in fans.

The point of playing a FCS is to get an easier win, not help our attendance.

They aren't mutually exclusive ideas. We should always be able to beat SFA, SHSU, ACU, McNeese, Portland State, etc...if not, then major changes have to occur, like they did after PSU's barrel-bending of our entire team last fall.

If you cannot get a FBS program to have scholarship players with talent to beat other FBS teams, not including FCS spares, you have to really ask yourself if this is truly the right level to compete at for your university. When I have posted that Mac left us in a mile deep hole of dog$hit, I mean it. Littrell has to use a FCS level squad, both in talent and scholarships, to compete this fall. That is why the Butt Cookman game will be revealing--it is literally the only game on the schedule that we will play somebody we should beat and have similar scholarship levels with. If we lose it, it will be the only way that Seth Littrell would look bad. Losing to anyone else this fall will not tell us one thing about Littrell's coaching and system. Its gonna take years for that to show up.

So, are we clear on the point that in the neighborhood of 85%-90% of FBS schools schedule FCS schools for home games?  Yeah.

Okay, so, we clamoured, in a strictly British sense, for series with SMU and Army, and that was given to us.  Then, once we got those and the new stadium, we were unhappy about those series handcuffing us to some degree in future scheduling.

Schedules are made years in advance, not season to season.  You may have a change if someone needs to drop a game for some reason.  You play along and go along to get along.  But, too many of you obsess about what you think other people have that you don't.

You are worrying to much as Jesus taught you not to do when he said, "Can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?"

You are not leading quiet lives, as your were taught by the apostle Paul, chosen by Christ himself to take the gospel to the heathen gentiles, when he wrote, "Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before."

You are nitpicking, busy bodies.  Me, me, me, me, me is what your are.  Gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme.  Your favorite music artist is cover specialists Me First and the Gimme Gimmes.

You can't have everything.  You guys are like my eight and ten-year old kids:  you beg and beg and beg for a new toy, get it, play with it for a day or two, then want another new toy.

Screw you.  Go to your rooms and be happy with the toys you have!  Millions of kids in China don't have anything near what you have, much less the kids in Peru, Turkey, and Bangladesh!

You know what makes FBS football tick at the highest level:  cash.  Green money.  Almighty dollar.  That lean, mean, mean green.  Shut your whiny pie holes and open your wallets if you don't like what's happening with the scheduling:

...unless he wins, right?  Then, he's a genius.
