North Texas has selected one of its veteran officials to guide its athletic department over the next few weeks while the school searches for a new athletic director.

Hank Dickenson has pretty much seen it all over the course of more than two decades at the school.

Putting Dickenson in charge during its search for a new AD was a solid decision by UNT president Neal Smatresk.

Hank will do a good job facilitating the AD change for NT

I agree. Hank has always promoted NT and all things Denton in a way that clearly demonstrates his love for this university and community.  I have full confidence that he's a great asset right now as he will undoubtedly approach this role with the aim of making sure

  1. the new AD is equipped to hit the ground running, and
  2. the current student athletes are not disadvantaged during the process
