And now to happier things. A championship where we have one of the teams that have a real shot at winning this thing: Men's Golf. It is also about having a good enough shwoing to make the regionals in case we don't win the conference.

UNT started of in the final pairing today with the other favorites Charlotte and UAB.

At the moment, not quite halfway through the first round UNT is tied for second, with UAB having taken a four shot lead.

first round done....north texas is tied for 3rd with old dominion and marshall at +4....uab is in first at -3, followed by la tech at -2....uab has a guy at -8....five shots better than anyone...best north texas guy is churchman at -2, he is also the only north texas player under par.

final round just underway...north texas is currently is 4th, the last transition spot, shots ahead of 5th place.  north texas is 6 shots back of third...need a strong finish today to secure a spot in the match play round

just finished their third round...great round for them!  up to 3rd....with a few teams left to finish.  they will stay top 4...hopefully in 2nd or 3rd...want to avoid uab in match play

tourney stroke play is over....

1. uab

2. la tech

3. north texas

4. utsa

 

start match play tomorrow, against la tech i believe...

 

thomas rosenmueller was low guy at -3, good for third and i believe qualifies him for the ncaas if the team does not make it.

      The Athletic on DFW Football recruiting

      It's not as easy as it was to be invited to the top anymore. Everyone wants to be up at the top, so universities throw money at their programs hoping it happens. In the 80's if you threw money at your program then you had a real shot. Now, it's all based on brand recognition and perception. Though what you are saying has a lot of credence to it, but I think the downfall of the university's athletics started when the university started to push the "university for all" bullshit. And though I think that's a slogan that's not that dated, that's not what I am referencing. I am more so referring to when the push was artsy and music students, and then this liberal inclusion bullshit. Sport people USUALLY don't share those beliefs and/or interests. And when you're making a gigantic bulk of your enrollment that, well, our student and alum involvement turns out to be the result. The drop down certainly did alienate a large % of fans in that window of time, but in the 21st century our problem is what and who we're catering to.

      There are a ton of players still in the portal. It sucks, but we have to be patient and see how things play out. Let the big money NIL's grab up who they want and there will be a lot of really good players looking for a place to land.
