North Texas: One name to keep an eye on for the North Texas head coaching job is North Carolina assistant head coach for offense / tight ends coach Seth Littrell.

What makes them underwhelming?

No head coaching experience for any of them. All P5 spoiled and will be stunned at the dysfunction inside this AD and with this fan base. 

None realize the MASSIVE undertaking that awaits them.

Some have only one person in mind.  It's like that horse with blinders on - limited sightlines. GMG

Wrong. I have a set of parameters in mind. None of these coaches meet them.

Based on that if we would've fired Mac last year and brought Tom Herman in you would've considered him an underwhelming guy.

We aren't the University of Houston, for gripes sake. And we surely aren't UT or Alabama. He has no clue about what awaits him at UNT.

I would have rather seen Lincoln Reilly over these 3 or 4, to tell you the truth. At least he had a good couple of years at ECU before going to a P5.

Chris Tomasen is a much better candidate for what we need than any of these 3. 

What makes you think Hermann would have been successful at UNT?

You know, as much as I hate to admit being on the same wave length with UNT90, he is absolutely right. Any of these candidates who have spent all their tenure at the P5 level will come here and (like Coach Mac), look around in a couple of years and say "what the hell is wrong with these people!?!?."

well arent interested and aren't coming so lick  your wounds and move on. Any of the three I would take over Mac and dodge. Now chambers on the other hand is definitely the most underwhelming name to date

it appears they are we aren't interested.  Fritz seems to want the Iowa State job.

Any of the 3 won't get us back to a bowl and will be fired year 4.

Thats worse than Mac.

yes i have asked you for candidates that fit that bill.. and all you could say was fritz.. Guess briles was an underwhelming hire at houston. Patterson an underwhelming hire at tcu. Fuentes  was an underwhelming hire at memphis and numerous other examples. A high school kids will be more excited about playing for the former  OC of TCU than a guy who had success at Angelo State back in the early 2000's...

      OT, but how does this percentage still so high? Graduating college has been pushed so freaking hard, going back to the Boomers, that you would think this number would be much less than 20%. 20+ years ago, when I was finishing HS, it was the de-facto, this-is-just-what-you-do endeavor. And I was not even a Boomer. So how are we still seeing so many first gen college graduates?

      New commit Creighton transfer post Brock Vice

      This is an interesting pickup for us. This guy doesn’t conform to the typical transfer profile that we should be focusing on: highly productive player at a low-major/D2 or a formerly productive player at high-major/mid-major who needs a change of scenery. Brock Vice has played ZERO real college basketball. But finding a player who can be productive for us at the center position is going to take some creativity. Need to replace Tylor Perry or Jason Edwards? Not fun, but there are LOTS of fast young men 5’9 or taller who can dribble and shoot that the marketplace has undervalued. Ross Hodge can take his pick. There just aren’t very many 18-24 year-old humans who are 6’9 or taller. And the marketplace places a very high price on those who are that tall AND possess any degree of athleticism or basketball skill. Which brings us back to Brock Vice, who redshirted on a VERY good Creighton team that finished 25-10 last season (second-place in the Big East). The starting center on that team was Ryan Kalkbrenner, a 7’1 monster who averaged 17 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocked shots a game. His backup also put up good numbers in very limited minutes. So Vice hasn’t been a productive college player yet, but atleast he has a good excuse. With both players in front of him on the depth chart eligible to come back to Creighton next season, Vice needs a change of scenery to get his oversized sneakers on the court. He’s 6-10. Can rebound AND shoot. Was an outstanding high school and AAU basketball player. And has enough meat on his bones and athleticism to have been a standout high school football player. This is exactly the kind of kid that Ross should be landing. We did not have a player like this guy on our team last season and it hurt us all year. Welcome to Denton!
