Interesting that a dude who was ejected for targeting would be named Defensive POW.   Scoop-&-score was huge though.

I was in the stands but that call seemed to be complete BS but I didnt have a close look at it. What did it look like on TV?

I'm curious to see whether the suspension for the 1st half of the LaTech game will stand or not.

Funny you should ask, because I was out of town watching on TV!
I think it could have gone either way.  He certainly led with his helmet into the WR's helmet.  But upon impact, he shoved the guy out of bounds with his arms, instead of fully delivering the blow.

I listened to the post game and Dave Barnett said that the call was absolutely awful and they missed it big time so I was wondering what the deal was. Thanks

I disagree, saw the replay and the hands where the first thing to hit, the helmets missed each other.  TV announcers were really surprised it was a penalty and then stunned that he got ejected.

The view from my seat was partially obscured by people on the sideline but it looked like a legal hit. The replays show that it is legal. Canales must appeal, it is only right that he do so.

So does anyone REALLY think we will win an appeal. We don't have the greatest appeal track record.

BTW is this an NCAA or CUSA appeal?

I believe the appeal is to the conference office but I also could be quite wrong.

Good thing we have the week off.  He took a lot of nasty hits before and AFTER releasing the ball yesterday.  We have to get these o-line issues addressed and quickly.  Also C-USA refs need to cut this after play crap out or we are going to become a league full of injured QB's.

Here's a short article I wrote for CUSA Report way back in August that kind of covers (from a 30k foot perspective) what has been making us sad lately: parity in this league.
It sucks we are not going to make a repeat championship appearance. But it also speaks to how competitive this league has become, compared to how top heavy it was just a few years ago. As a whole, that is good for the league when we get lots of attention.

The focused effort by C-USA schools on bringing in coaching talent has paid dividends throughout the league. All new coaches hired since 2016 made a bowl appearance in their first year (we are counting UAB’s Bill Clark’s Return Year as a Year One because of the circumstances).
“In this conference you better be ready to play. First of all, there’s excellent coaches,” FIU’s Butch Davis said when asked about the influx of new coaches. “The competitiveness: they recruit well, there’s a lot of talent…if you don’t show up and you’re not prepared to play on Saturday, you’re going to get your butt beat.”
