How good was his back up?

Feel awful for a kid that works his ass off all off season and then gets hurt for the year in the first game of the season.

Im watching the second half of the game right now - and to answer your question - he doesn't appear to be very good. He's been bull rushed a few times and every time he's pulled he's missed his block. Has a sizable amount of quit in him too. He may also be dealing with a sore hamstring as he's rubbed his right hammy a couple of times.

It appeared like they were avoiding calling plays to his side - but maybe they just liked match ups on the other side more.

SMUs primary problem is depth. This is not helping. Not at all. I wish swift healing on the insured player, but that UNT takes advantage of this.

Too bad he's hurt, but that may be good for NT.  I hope he makes a complete recovery right after the NT game.  But all is not lost.  The above post says he's "insured."  I hope it's not a HMO.

Injuries like this can really affect a player beyond their playing years, in addition to feeling like a whole offseason of training just got wasted. I hope McCarty recovers well.
