David Wolf, executive director of individual giving at UCLA, will be the next vice president for advancement at the University of North Texas.

He is the latest hire under Neal Smatresk, who joined the university as president in February 2014 and has since made major changes to top-level administration. This makes the fourth replacement on his Presidents Cabinet, which is comprised of 10 vice presidents. Two of the positions are currently filled with interim members, who are performing the job functions until permanent hires are made.

Michael Monticino held the position of vice president for advancement until last August, when he left the university to become president of Academic Analytics LLC. Since then, Eileen Moran has been the acting vice president. When Wolf begins June 1, Moran will return to her post as associate vice president for advancement.

DENTON (UNT), Texas -- David Wolf, a UNT alumnus with more than a decade of experience in higher education fundraising, will be named the new vice president for advancement at the University of North Texas.

"David will be a strong leader who can support and guide UNT's fundraising team," said UNT President Neal Smatresk. "His proven track record and expertise in increasing donor engagement and in leading successful campaigns will benefit UNT by continuing to strengthen relationships with our community and support for our university. As an alumnus, David knows firsthand the excellent educational experience we provide. This makes him exceptionally qualified to communicate and engage with the community."

Wolf starts his position June 1.

Wolf has extensive experience in donor relations, planned gifts and fundraising campaigns, most recently serving as executive director of individual giving at UCLA where he leads and manages fundraising and engagement operations. At UCLA, he increased regional giving by 20 percent and raised more than $50 million in gifts. Wolf also helped develop and implement a new crowd-funding resource and successfully developed young alumni and student giving programs.

"As a graduate of UNT I'm excited for the opportunity to help my alma mater continue its amazing trajectory forward, it's a great time to be a part of the Mean Green family," Wolf said. "My family and I look forward to being a part of the community, and most importantly being able to share with the UNT Family and friends the wonderful programs, research and people that benefit from the generosity of those who support UNT."

Prior to joining UCLA, Wolf worked in administrative advancement and development positions for the University of Southern Mississippi, the University of Alabama, Cameron University and the University of Texas at Arlington. A long-time member of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, he won three CASE district awards for campaign literature and marketing materials.

Wolf holds a bachelor's in communications and a master's in political science from the University of Texas at Arlington, and a Ph.D. in higher education from the University of North Texas.

Actually -- this is a very big hire. Basically the 2nd most important position in the administration next to Smatresk. Sounds like he has good credentials. I wish him the best. GMG.
