  1. No doubt the ol' Pirate, Mike Leach, wouldn't mind making a trip to Denton. That's if he's still in Pullman in 5 years... http://www.fbschedules.com/2015/09/washington-state-central-michigan-schedule-2019-2021-football-series/ and remember, up until a couple of months ago we still had room on our schedules in 2019 & 2021 to make this kind of deal ourselves
  2. This is from this mornings Syracuse paper: "Heart of Dallas Bowl vs, Conference USA on Jan. 1 This remains the favorite (for Syracuse), and the most logical, among all the projections. It's been well-known that the Big Ten wouldn't fill this spot, so conversations should have been in the works for the past week. Syracuse provides a television market, and one of Conference USA's Texas-based teams would provide the home crowd. The threat is a return of Washington State coach Mike Leach, formerly of Texas Tech, or Sun Belt teams that are closer geographically." 3. Heart of Dallas Bowl Gametime: Wednesday January 1st, 9:00 AM PST Location: Cotton Bowl, Dallas, TX Coverage: ESPN Payout: $1,100,000 Website: theheartofdallas.com Twitter: @HODBowl This bowl has to be high on Bill Moos' want list, and WSU has to be high the bowl's want list, too. In order for it to become available, the Big Ten needs to have one team selected for a BCS at-large bowl. Previously, we were rooting for Wisconsin, which finished its season this weekend losing to Penn State (on sanctions, not eligible). Now, we're all fans of Sparty, and to some degree Ohio State (gross). A few different scenarios could play out here. Michigan State beats Ohio State in the Championship and goes to the Rose Bowl. Ohio State would then be eligible for an at-large selection, and has a real good shot at getting one. Ohio State beats Michigan State and plays in the BCS National Championship. If Ohio State can hold on to a No. 2 ranking, it will earn the privilege of facing Jameis Winston and the Florida State Seminoles in the BCS Championship; that would also send Sparty to the Rose Bowl and open up the Heart of Dallas for us Cougs. Ohio State beats Michigan State and is not ranked No. 2. If the Buckeyes aren't ranked No. 2, and there's a chance of that despite a perfect record since the computers don't really like their schedule and there's a perceived weakness of the B1G this year, Ohio State goes to the Rose Bowl and Cougs are left hoping Michigan State has enough to grab an at-large. With a few different scenarios that make it possible, it's very likely this bowl opens up. If you're into social media activism, tweet at these people, they're awesome and that sort of stuff truly does not go unnoticed by committees. 4. UNT picked up a commitment from Guyer defensive back John Schilleci this morning.Schilleci played cornerback last season, but will make the move to safety this fall. He has some serious speed. He has run a 4.43-second 40-yard dash and won the District 7-5A title in the 100-meter dash as a sophomore at 10.68. He had an offer from Washington State. Schilleci was recruited by offensive line coach Mike Simmonds and new safeties coach Noah Joseph. Landing a player with an offer from a Pac-10 school is a big win for UNT. The fact that he is a local player makes his commitment even bigger. UNT has always eyed the talent in Denton that has taken the quickest path out of town to other schools around the state and in some cases halfway across the country.
