  1. FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Arkansas' fans left Reynolds Razorback Stadium on Saturday evening still not sure they had witnessed the home team lose to North Texas 44-17. One way of showing their displeasure on Saturday was loud boos at end of first half and when Cole Kelley threw his fourth interception of the day. The loudest cheer of the day may have been when Connor Noland entered the game. Following the game, Chad Morris talked to the media. A trio of players were also brought into the media room. Santos Ramirez, Jared Cornelius and Hjalte Froholdt were the three players made available. Each expressed some form of disappointment with the boos from the fans. I will point out the boos were directed at Morris for playing Kelley as much or more than they were at the sophomore quarterback himself. I am not into booing. I have never been to a game to watch a team play and booed. Fans are frustrated right now and while Morris will get a lot of criticism one has to understand it's more than three games that has fans upset. Fans are upset because Arkansas is now entering his seventh year in a row of watching the Razorbacks struggling on the field. read more: https://www.nwahomepage.com/pig-trail-nation/the-morning-after-this-loss-will-sting-for-a-long-time/1450018200
  2. FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - North Texas used six interceptions to defeat Arkansas 44-17 on Saturday in Reynolds Razorback Stadium. Starting quarterback Cole Kelley was 16 of 35 passing for 185 yards with four interception. He did run for a 5-yard touchdown. The Arkansas fans in attendance booed loudly after halftime and then when Kelley threw his fourth interception in the third quarter. Wide receiver Jared Cornelius took exception to the boos. "It's really easy to pick one guy to point a finger at," Cornelius said. "For the majority of the first half I think that guy was Cole at least by the outside world. I think the receivers could run better routes, the offensive line could protect better and guys can get out on their checks and chip defensive ends. "When you come out of the locker room to start the second half and your starting quarterback is getting booed by the home team. When is that right? How is that right? I feel I have been holding this in for a minute, but at the end of the day that is someone's son, someone's brother, that's my brother. I'm not gonna sit around like that is OK. When a guy comes in the second half we're still in the game and they are booing him. That's not the standard, that's not gonna be the standard." read more: https://www.nwahomepage.com/pig-trail-nation/north-texas-routs-arkansas-44-17-behind-six-interceptions/1448874446

  4. Two years ago, North Texas football went 1-11. On Saturday, the Mean Green clinched just the 18th 2-0 start in program history, and first since 1994. It’s incredible to think how this program has grown. That’s nothing compared to what the Mean Green can accomplish this weekend, as UNT travels five hours east to face off against SEC opponent Arkansas. read more: https://www.texasfootball.com/article/2018/09/13/unt-football-mean-green-can-launch-program-to-national-relevance-by-beating-arkansas
  5. Re: North Tx has the #1 passing qb in the nation.... « Reply #57 on: Today at 02:19:45 pm » UNT doesn't have much of a run game. Their O-Line is not overly huge, with the exception of the left tackle, Jordan Murray, who is 6'9" and 325 lbs. Three of the linemen are transfers. From the looks of it, this line was built to pass block. Arkansas' ends must get pressure on Mason Fine (who is only 5'11"), force him to scramble, take him out of his comfort zone, get hits on him, and force him into errors/bad passes. I would look for the nickelback, or another corner, to play most of the game. Shutting down UNT's apparantly limited running attack will be the job of the Hogs DT's and LB's (Harris, Pool). UNT's defense looks to run a 3-3-5. The Mean Green look to have plenty of speed, but not much size inside. They are only giving up 74 rushing yards per game, but one must consider who they have played so far. They also give up 202 yards passing. I would say look for the Arkansas O-Line to exert itself in the trenches again, hopefully between the tackles like they SHOULD HAVE DONE against Colorado St! This will do a few things in the Hogs favor: 1. Eat time off the clock. 2. Keep UNT's offense on the sideline. 3. Allow Arkansas' defense to rest. 4. By the 4th quarter, the UNT front seven will be worn down, which means they will probably try to compensate by adding an eighth (or maybe even a ninth) man into the box, which in turn will open the passing game for Arkansas to burn them deep. But, the Hogs must score touchdowns! How ironic (and sickening) would it be if UNT, and former Arkansas, kicker Cole Hedlund beat us? Can't let that happen! read more: http://forums.hogville.net/index.php?topic=667775.50
  6. The Mean Green football team is set to face the Arkansas Razorbacks in their third straight non-conference game on Saturday, Sept. 15 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. This is the first time this season North Texas will be traveling after starting the season 2-0, the first time since 1994. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m. at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The history between these two teams goes back to 1947. Since then, the teams have met a total of nine times, the most recent meeting taking place in 2007 that resulted in a 66-7 Razorback win over North Texas. Outscored by more than 250 points in those nine games, the Mean Green have their toughest challenge of the season ahead of them. The Mean Green have struggled against teams in Power Five conferences, and since 2008 the team has lost each of the last 13 meetings with Power Five opponents. The Mean Green’s 58 points against the University of the Incarnate Word are a season-high for the team, as they now average 52 points per game and look to keep the high-scoring offense going. “I think we improved from last week, and that’s all you can ask for: To keep improving each week,” North Texas quarterback Mason Fine said. “I think we need to be more physical on the perimeter — we need to watch film to see what we need to work on and get ready for Arkansas.” View Full Article
