  1. Anybody else watch the College GameDay feature on Trace McSorley? It seems like everything they've said about him is exactly what they've said about Mason Fine. A lot of his Penn State records are similar to MF's and clocks in at just 6'0" What are your thoughts? https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/trace-mcsorley-1.html#all_leaderboard
  2. Even in Joe Paterno’s last days, the iconic college football coach maintained his innocence in the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal at Penn State. A report published Thursday by PennLive.com offers new evidence Paterno might have first heard about accusations that his former defensive coordinator was molesting children as early as 1976. Described as “a new bombshell” in the Sandusky saga, the report references a court order on a related insurance coverage case involving the more than $60 million the university has paid out in civil claims filed by victims of Sandusky’s
  3. I hadn't really been following this story -- but it is extremely tragic. What blows me away is that Penn State hired the coach at Vanderbilt who was in charge when it all happened. And now this guy James Franklin is claiming he lied about seeing the video tape to his players.... so Penn State hires THIS guy after all the shat they went through with Sandusky?? Unbelievable! read more: http://deadspin.com/james-franklin-claims-he-lied-about-seeing-vanderbilt-r-1643928752
  4. I am heading up to State College this weekend to enjoy the Ohio State @ Penn State football game with my father and two uncles. This will be my first trip to Beaver Stadium, but my 4th or so PSU game (TicketCity Bowl, Alamo Bowl, @ Alabama in '86?). Although the game is not as exciting as it looked before the season, I think it's going to be one of the best sporting experiences I've had. I haven't been able to attend much recently (because small children - no jokes, please) so other than HOD this is pretty much it for big time sports for me since the 2001 NLCS (damn you, Randy Johnson!) and th
  5. John was introduced at the Mean Green Caravan in Dallas but I thought it was high time he was given an introduction here. John's title is Senior Associate Athletic Director / Executive Director of Mean Green Club. Prior to joining UNT he held the position of Nittany Lion Club Director of Major Gifts and Annual Giving at Penn State. Here's a link to the MeanGreenSports page with John's contact info and picture as well as the rest of his staff. He has an impressive resume and I know you will join me in welcoming him to UNT and supporting his efforts in building The Mean Green Club.
  6. --LSU picked up Penn State QB Rob Bolden. --And the Tigers were ranked #1 in the first USA Today/Coaches Poll for the 2012 college football season. The fallout from the NCAA penalties to the Penn State football program continued as several notable players transferred from Penn State to other colleges. One of those transfers was QB Rob Bolden. Bolden, once the starting QB at Penn State, now is at LSU practicing with the #1- ranked Tigers. Bolden is eligible right now as the NCAA granted any transfers from Penn State the opportunity to play right away due to the penalties that were h
  7. STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- Kicker-punter Anthony Fera is bolting Penn State for Texas, the second starter to depart Happy Valley this week following harsh NCAA sanctions against the program for the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal. Fera has submitted paperwork to enroll at Texas this season, said a person with knowledge of the decision who requested anonymity because Texas has not yet announced the move. Penn State announced Thursday that Fera was no longer on its roster. The junior with the powerful right leg was one of the top specialists in the Big Ten after hitting 14 of 17 fie
  8. If we make such a big deal about a college football program playing dumb when a recruit takes free shoes or tattoos, or his family lives in a house rent free, how can we ignore it when evidence screams that one of the nation’s most powerful universities enabled a pedophile? How can we sit through something so sick and vile as the testimony in the Jerry Sandusky trial and conclude that this was a one-source scandal? Penn State should not be allowed to play another football game. SMU, one of the nation’s top private universities, saw its football program given the death penalty in 1987 bec
  9. In a matter of minutes, NCAA president Mark Emmert, along with Oregon State president Ed Ray, chair of the NCAA’s executive committee, will hand down major sanctions for Penn State’s football program, the first such penalties in program history. Although it has been widely reported that Penn State won’t be hit with the so-called “death penalty,” the NCAA is expected to level unprecedented sanctions. Potential penalties include scholarship losses, a ban from postseason play, a ban from all games and hefty fines. A TV ban? While it seems unlikely, nothing is off the table here. The effec
  10. USC has notified Penn State of its interest in running back Silas Redd, a source told ESPN's Joe Schad on Monday. Redd has met with Penn State coach Bill O'Brien, who sources say has stressed to players that they can still play games and still appear on television. Some players have concerns about if their teammates will leave and the Nittany Lions' ability to continue to field a winning team, one source said. read more: http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/8193673/source-usc-trojans-express-interest-penn-state-nittany-lions-rb-silas-redd
