  1. I think switching to the spread would greatly help our team. If nothing else, I think we could use it as a selling point for recruits. Kids all over the state are playing in the system and it gives them the opportunity to put up huge numbers. I know its against Mac's style, but times have got to change! He has lost all momentum and he is losing the team. We have no rhythm or consistency on offense. Period. GMFP used to be anti spread, and look how this year has turned out...
  2. Theoretically: 1) If Mac decides to retire, or the BOR/AD grow big cajones and fire him/reach a split, who would you want to replace him? And if you can't come up with names, what would be some of the attributes you would want to see in a new hire? 2) I think it's clear that Canales and/or Skladany need to go - either through a firing or retiring. Same question in the same situation: who would you want to replace them, and if you don't have names, what attributes would you want to see? 3) Should UNT have a dedicated QBs coach or does the OC/QB combo work well in theory?
  3. The Mid-American Conference has agreed to a new 13-year contract with ESPN, according published reports by The Associated Press and The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer on Monday. The new agreement would give the network all television distribution rights to the MAC’s football games through the 2026-27 season. The new deal is expected to give ESPN rights to all men’s basketball as well, and a select number of women’s basketball and olympic sports games. A formal announcement is expected on Tuesday. The MAC’s current deal with ESPN is for $1.4 million per year, and is split evenly among the conference’s member institutions. That number is considerably less than the amount paid out to Conference-USA and the Mountain West — two other ‘Group of Five’ conferences. C-USA ($11.3 million) and the MWC ($12 millions) have deals with CBS and ESPN, respectively. The MAC had three years remaining on an eight-year contract signed with ESPN in 2009, but the media giant was open to renegotiating terms of the contract given the niche in weeknight football programming that the conference has provided — at a bargain rate — over the last decade. 4. 4. Mac Messed With MAC: Dan McCarney, former longtime coach at Iowa State, is writing his own heartwarming story at North Texas, which is 7-3 in McCarney’s third year there. But oh, how ESPN2 would have appreciated it had McCarney’s Mean Green not clipped Ball State in Denton on Sept. 14, 34-27. Had Ball State won that game, the Cardinals would go to Northern Illinois Wednesday with a 10-0 record to face the 9-0 Huskies. As it is, the game is for the upper hand in the MAC West. - See more at: http://thegazette.com/2013/11/11/hlist-week-11-you-can-win-at-football-anywhere/#sthash.sYz0FQ96.dpuf
  5. I've notice the MAC championship game isn't get much attention. Besides match ranked teams with a BCS busting possiblity this year, if the same situation occurs next year the MAC would be in the Access Bowls instead of the Big East. There is no reason to think CUSA won't be able to put itself in a similar situation.
