  1. Jason Bean is confident he’s the fastest player on the Kansas football team. When asked last week who was the speediest, the redshirt senior quarterback answered with no hesitation. “Me, without a doubt,” Bean said. So even after Jayhawks coach Lance Leipold said he expects junior Jalon Daniels to start at quarterback at the start of fall camp, Bean’s speed and athleticism could still come into play in other ways. Bean said he and offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki “haven’t really talked” about what his involvement with the offense could look like if he isn’t the starting quarterback. 2. Finally, we have the junior transfer from North Texas, Jason Bean. Even though he doesn’t have any experience with Kansas football, he appears to be the one in the quarterback’s room with the most college football experience. Last year with North Texas, Bean threw for 1131 yards off 79 completions, 14 touchdowns, and five interceptions in eight games. Leipold spoke about Bean at media days as well, stating, “Jason Bean is new and he’s learning his teammates and what it’s about. He’s got length. He runs well.” If you’re looking at the numbers, it appears Bean could be the favorite to take the starting spot on Week 1. read more: https://throughthephog.com/2021/07/29/kansas-football-who-win-starting-qb-job/
  3. From the sound of things, this year's Kansas quarterback battle will be like that of past years, meaning it will extend into the fall. That's likely especially true given Jason Bean, a transfer from North Texas, is not yet on campus. He's expected to have a chance to compete for the starting role when he arrives this summer. Here are their stats from the last year: Jalon Daniels (Fr.): 76-for-152 passing (50.0%), 718 yards, 4 TD (1 passing), 4 INT Miles Kendrick (Jr.): 73-for-120 passing (60.8%), 647 yards, 6 TD (all passing), 5 INT Jason Bean (So.): 79-for-145 passing (54.5%), 1,131 yards, 19 TD (14 passing), 5 INT Bean's statistics, of course, came at North Texas, while the other two passers were at Kansas. While his statistics were mostly better than the aforementioned two across the board, Bean will have to deal with the challenge of getting on campus in June, as compared to the others, who have been around the program for some time. read more: https://247sports.com/college/kansas/Article/Where-Kansas-football-quarterback-competition-sits-heading-into-summer-165187441/
  4. Moments after the men charged into his apartment, Caperton Humphrey remembered the baseball bat in his bedroom. If they came at him — and Humphrey believed he saw the imprint of a pistol in one man’s jogging pants — he needed a plan to fight back. For months, four of these men had been his teammates on the Kansas Jayhawks football team. Now they and about a half-dozen others were in Humphrey’s living room, threatening him, his father Jamie, and even Caperton’s 15-year-old brother. Seconds later, Jamie Humphrey dialed 911, putting his phone on speaker before setting it on a countertop. 5. Kansas football has given its, “Rock Chalk Rack,” of this week to quarterback Jason Bean, who just transferred into the program and was added to the roster recently. The award is a reward for an impressive showing in the weight room throughout the week. Trevor Wilson, Kwamie Lassiter and Jacobee Bryant won the award alongside Bean. Matt Gildersleeve, the program’s strength and conditioning coach, recently explained how the award is given out. The explanation came in a video that was posted to the program’s Twitter account. “Our lifting groups are all divided into racks and they lift with those racks all week,” Gildersleeve said. “We vote on Rack of the Day every day. And whoever gets the most Racks of the Day, that becomes the Rock Chalk Rack. Now, only those guys train on that rack. Nobody else. And the rest of the day when you walk in this facility, it’s roped off. Nobody else trains on that rack. You have to earn the right and the privilege to train on the Rock Chalk Rack. But those are your guys. Those are the guys that are pushing the program in the right direction.” read more: https://247sports.com/Article/Kansas-Jayhawks-football-Jason-Bean-wins-Rock-Chalk-Rack-award-Trevor-Wilson-Kwamie-Lassiter-Jacobee-Bryant-166586836/
  6. During his previous season at North Texas, Bean started in 7 of the Mean Green’s 10 matchups, and for good reason: he’s quick. Bean has a knack for speed, however, his ability to quickly get the ball into receivers’ hands could grab head coach Lance Leipold’s attention. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for facilitating young potential in the quarterback seat. However, in Kansas’ case, going with an experienced, reliable quarterback may be the right move here. If Bean can “wow” this coaching staff, there could be a new look to the Jayhawks’ offense. Read more: https://throughthephog.com/2021/05/17/kansas-football-veteran-transfer-jason-bean-bring-table/
