  1. I am heading up to State College this weekend to enjoy the Ohio State @ Penn State football game with my father and two uncles. This will be my first trip to Beaver Stadium, but my 4th or so PSU game (TicketCity Bowl, Alamo Bowl, @ Alabama in '86?). Although the game is not as exciting as it looked before the season, I think it's going to be one of the best sporting experiences I've had. I haven't been able to attend much recently (because small children - no jokes, please) so other than HOD this is pretty much it for big time sports for me since the 2001 NLCS (damn you, Randy Johnson!) and the Indianapolis 500 in '02. It's still a B1G match up and includes the #13 team in the country. I think it will be worth the trip. It's a white-out and I'm hoping to slip some Mean Green into that. I will be having an ice cream at the creamery and a few many Yuengling. Anyone jealous? Anyone care to throw out the greatest sporting event they've been to? Any sport will do. I like sports. But, what I am really looking for here is to be told what a horrible person I am for going and supporting Penn State. That I should be ashamed for traveling nearly 1,500 miles to watch a team play football that supports evil. Tell me I am going to "PEDOPHILE ST". Tell me that my family "don't think Joe Pa did anything wrong". I want your hate. #YOLO
  2. I am a Dajon guy. But after seeing his Twitter comments, I'm wondering if he's got the right mentality to lead a FBS program. He's always had question marks about his attitude and his twitter comments will cement what many think - and certainly can't please Mac. What are your thoughts?

  4. https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2014/09/11/colleges-worry-about-future-football-fans-student-attendance-declines A friend and former colleague I took to the LaTech game sent me this last night. It's something we've all been aware of at least peripherally and a problem I think our AD has flipped on its head to some degree. We seem to focus nearly all of our resources towards procuring the student attendance and filling our luxury monocle'd club seats and suites. The huge bet there being that those rabid undergrads will remain faithful alumni and come back to the West side of the stands if they remain nearby in the metroplex after graduation. (these are quite a few factors to go the right way to get the desired outcome) This leaves seemingly little to no attention given to the existing Alumni side as it stands now; last weekend's game notwithstanding, though one could attribute the West side's robustness to Family Weekend and the movement of the sun. What do you think? Discuss collegiately.
  5. Anyone on campus at all? Are people buzzing? Are a lot of students going to the game?
  6. For those who haven't yet seen it. http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2014/7/14/5897755/college-football-playoff-trophy-picture They managed to create something both phallic AND vaginal all in one. A rare feat indeed. Also, apparently the crystal football is sticking around but will have no bearing on the end result.
  7. Just went to UNT night at the Rangers game, and because the game was abysmal, I spent most of my time trying to hunt down one of those green North Texas Rangers hats. I didn't get my ticket in time to get a voucher. I was hoping someone on here had an extra or was willing to sell me theirs? I know there were a lot of alumni there. Anyone?

  9. I didn't seem to see this posted elsewhere. I love how they include the angle of the cameraman Jimmerson ran over. This post has been promoted to an article
  10. So I know this is still the lull-ish months in our Mean Green Fandom, but if you have the availability to come to campus tomorrow (Saturday, the 22nd), there is going to be a full day of stuff going on for everyone's athletic tastes. 9:30 AM - Darrell Dickey Practice Fields - First Football Scrimmage So, I just called Athletics to confirm (for the KRAM types ) that yes, despite the weather forecast, tomorrow's scrimmage is still scheduled to move forward. As all Spring activities are open, come on out and join in the revelry along the side lines. 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM - Ken Bahnsen Gym aka THE SNAKE PIT - UNT Student Alumni Association Inaugural Field Gym Day https://studentaffairs.unt.edu/field-day Remember Field Days in elementary school? Come on, you know you loved those and long to do so again. So here's your chance! Join our Alumni Team captained by fellow GMG poster Tyler Maryak and compete against current students! Oh, and if you haven't heard, the SAA itself is run by our own lovely poster Michagb. The winning team will receive the coveted Golden Squirrel Trophy commemorating their contributions. All monies from this event go towards various causes all benefitting students - the Alumni Team cause being direct scholarships. Registration is $10 and gets you this snazzy shirt: Oh and you don't have to participate but can still cheer on your designated team! 5:00 PM - NT Volleyball Center - 4th Annual GoMeanGreen.com Basketball Classic http://www.gomeangreen.com/forums/forum-4/announcement-55-gomeangreencom-basketball-classic-march-22nd-5pm/ Come further contribute to student scholarships in GMG.com's tried and true Basketball Classic and Silent Auction. The recipients of these monies are UNT Cheerleading and they will be presenting a special preview at the halftime of the game. Registration for this one is $25 and also gets you a snazzy shirt, though I don't where to link to find that one. ---- Come one come all! This post has been promoted to an article
  11. Nov 29th we're playing UTSA during the final stretch of the season.. Frankly I'm extremely worried we're gonna get our butts handed to us. Did some heavy researching and it looks like most of their team is gonna be seasoned juniors and seniors. That plus their insanely hard schedule will keep em on them pretty strong.. Personally I see this as a loss for Mean Green.. Thoughts?
  12. Check out #27.... Kind of tongue in cheek, but still fun to see

  17. I don't care about one's politics in this matter. This sucks. http://www.capitalgazette.com/news/naval_academy/government-shutdown-could-put-navy-air-force-game-in-jeopardy/article_c1dbac7e-2361-57e1-bfc3-fa3096990864.html http://www.bcinterruption.com/boston-college-football-army-2013/2013/10/1/4790964/government-shutdown-could-cancel-boston-college-army-football-game http://forums.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=240&f=2434&t=12048284
  18. Ok... let's try this again. I know I'll be down in the area, but are any of you other Uptown folks (MDH) interested in attempting to get together something for Tulane? Thinking Christies or somewhere.
  19. http://www.meangreensports.com/beyondthegreen/ I lol'd at DT begging people for a cookie.
  20. We kept DT in there to add some more drama to his persona as played out in our new hit reality TV show, Beyond The Green! It's a simple reality show formula in action! +1 to the TV ratings win column. #untloses #whocareswehaveatvshow #right?guys? #guys?
  21. http://uniformcritics.com/football/college/north-texas-mean-green/2013-unt-centennial-throwback/ I don't know who Matthew Pearce is, but man do I love his photography.
  22. Was this our most decisive, complete win in nearly a decade? The stats across the board lend me to think so. But again, I came in 2009...
  23. The hour and a half lightning delay in the Carolinas (which someone out there in the Internet keenly pointed out that this game suffered a lengthier penalization than Manziel will face come Saturday)... A pair of FCS wins over FBS schools... This: ... (that's a QB, guys) On that note, some interesting glimpses at the new ejection penalty (actually rightfully) being applied to some egregious offenders... The thrilling last minutes of the Utah/Utah St and Ole Miss/Vanderbilt games... Tulsa absolutely getting thrashed by Bowling Green which blows the C-USA West race wide open (!!!) ... I can only sum it up as such: ... ... ... ... ... Thank goodness we've started.
  24. Okay. So yes, this isn't laid out in a typical FAQ manner, but if you have any last-minute questions going into Saturday logistically and otherwise, here's your go-to resource. http://www.meangreensports.com/gameday/ntex-index-gameday-2013.html#
