  1. I’d like to see interviews with coaches and players and have a microphone for the question as well as the answer somewhere in the same ZIP code.
  2. They used to clock my 40 time with a calendar.
  3. Somebody needs to remind the NCAA that Tennessee is in the SEC. As soon as they realize their mistake, all these sanctions will be dismissed.
  4. Darrell Dickey didn’t announce commitments. “Stealth” recruiting, I think we called it. There may be something to that. No announcement, no notice to fans, therefore, no posting on GMG, and less attention paid by opposing coaches.
  5. Inflation is not at an all time high. That distinction belongs to the Jimmy Carter era. It only seems high now because we just came out of a very low inflation period ( within the last 2 years) where we enjoyed record low un-employment and very low prices and “supply chain” wasn’t a common term. North Texas football and basketball is my “go to” for entertainment. I would not walk across the street to see pro football or basketball and perhaps those entertainment options might be at risk.
  6. Any business that can sell hooded sweatshirts in 90-104 degree weather is plenty successful in my book. I’ve got a bunch of ice cubes. I’m driving to Alaska in the morning to see if I can do as well.
  7. Nope. Didn’t happen. Although I did speak with Jared about the progress. Don’t ever play poker with Jared Mosely.
  8. The Chamber of Commerce is having a mixer this afternoon sponsored by the North Texas State Fair at the Club. Wouldn’t this be a slick time to announce the new naming sponsor for the Stadium. Forever, this mixer has been at the Fairgrounds to promote the upcoming fair. Then, suddenly, while we’re all waiting on the new naming sponsor, the mixer is at the Stadium. Hmmm… Coincidence ? I wonder. 4:00 Thursday
  9. Seems like they might have mentioned the NIT Championship.
  10. Well, yeah, but it should be pointed out that North Texas hadn’t been “normal” in years.
  11. I gave him my Coke. At first he refused. Then he said, “OK.” Then he tossed me his game worn jersey. I said, “Thanks Mean Joe.”
  12. I’ll have a Belt Buster and a Dilly Dip please ma’am.
  13. Really rolls off the tongue doesn’t it ?
  14. How to Houston locals refer to TDECU Stadium ?
  15. I just got a delivery from Tiff’s Treats from Joe Greene and the Take Flight UNT project. What a nice surprise. Warm cookies and a card from Mean Joe Greene. I think I’ll renew my basketball season tickets !
  16. Now to be clear, I was told the parade, last year, was canceled because it no longer “ met the needs of the students.” Nobody ever said to me it was for sustainability or to save the planet, I actually thought those earlier posters were joking. I simply believed the reason for canceling was that the person making the decision didn’t want to work on the parade. I still believe that. Let’s make our own parade. I saw it done and done well July 4. I never even saw a police officer except those riding in the parade.
  17. I bet if we held a un-authorized parade at Robson Ranch and Dr Smatresk were invited he would attend. And ride in the lead car.
  18. Well, maybe, but it’s a HOMECOMING parade. The students are already “at home.” In years past, the people lining the street weren’t students. They were townspeople and former students in town for the festivities and the game.
  19. From what I saw this morning, the residents at RR will come out and party strong and support what’s put in front of them. It would see little cost in putting on a parade at RR. A good turnout might make the University re-consider their stance on a homecoming parade.
  20. I just got back from the July 4th Parade at Robson Ranch. The best parade I’ve even been in. As I was driving and waving, I thought, let’s have the NT Homecoming Parade at Robson Ranch. The participation was incredible and the number of residents, all sitting in golf carts was staggering. If we could get half those people to come out the HC parade would be a success. True, it’s out of downtown but there would be no intersections to close and no need for security. There is a large parking lot near the Club house for staging and they already have a route. I talked with the coordinator if the July 4th Parade and he’s willing to help. THOUGHTS ?
  21. I’ve been here all my life. I’ve never heard anything negative associated with Acme Brick. Great local employer and frequent source of Chamber of Commerce executives. id be happy to play in Acme Brick Stadium but I wonder what brand of brick was used on the former Apigee Stadium ?
