One of my favorite GMG features. Could the Mods please put up a semi-permanent tab showing dates and venues in order of the games. This will be the first time we’ve looked over our new conference mates (mostly) fan sites and they us. GO MEAN GREEN.

See how long you can go before you refer to the stadium where North Texas plays as Apogee instead of DATCU. This morning, our priest used “Apogee” stadium as a landmark. An easy mistake. We want to hear how long you can go, in regular Mean Green conversation, before you slip and call it by its former name. OK… GO !

I received about 30 entries. Of those 30-ish entries, with 17 choosing DATCU. I put the 17 DATCU ballots in my wife’s Crystal dish and asked her to draw one. After I moved the ballots into something less expensive, I asked her to draw the winning ballot. And, when the dust cleared, UNT LIFER was the winning entry. Congratulations to LIFER. I wonder what role the company hired to search out a naming sponsor played. And, I wonder if we found DATCU on our own, if we owe that company a commission. Is it DAT “QUE” or DAT “COO” ?

I was thinking the same thing MBA. Write a check made out to NORTH TEXAS ATHLETICS and mail it to me. I’ll see that it gets in the hands of the Athletic Dept. Simple.

Do letter winners need notification that football season is 5 weeks away ? Did a former season ticket holder forget how to buy season tickets ? Do we need to be reminded that North Texas Athletics rely on fan support to survive and receive no state support ? Fans, I mean real fans step up and buy season tickets and support ($) NT programs. People that don’t, don’t. Don’t blame the school. You either support ($) NT Athletics or you don’t.

Originally, there was a 5 year window to pay for the “stadium bond,” plus the season ticket. The Club level suited me fine as my wife is the sort of person that won’t sit in the rain, intense heat, or extreme cold. So, she can sit inside when it wet, hot, or cold and join me outside when it’s not. And a bar 5 rows away makes her even easier to go to a game with. The dinner is served on a linen tablecloth with real silverware. Coffee on a cold day too. And, my seats are dead center on the 50. I can’t wait to get back to - - - - - Stadium again. GO MEAN GREEN

I was just looking over the schedule on MEAN GREEN SPORTS. About half the home games are listed at APOGEE STADIUM. About half are shown to be in DENTON, Tx.

As long as the ball can be spotted promptly.

I just got a note that President Smatresk and Jared Mosley are hosting a Stadium Naming Rights Conference Tuesday, August 1 at 2:30 in the Club. A big day for North Texas fans. First, a new conference and now a new name. And we haven’t even kicked off yet. GO MEAN GREEN

I was on another Kiwanis project that morning, but I heard good things. The athletes were said to be helpful, anxious and courteous. We will work with them again soon.

I agree with Keith. Just the facts, ma’am. No more. No less. Mean Green. I’ve read the instructions distributed by the Athletic Dept pertaining to terms to use and terms to avoid. The hand out says to refer to NT teams as North Texas, or Mean Green only. Never UNT. Bret Vito ignores that rule constantly. The fewer monikers, the stronger the brand. I was surprised when Ween painted UNT on the turf.

Drove by at 9:30 Sunday morning. The sign facing I-35 is still proclaiming APOGEE.
