The AAC is the big winner here.  Trading SMwho for ARMY is huge.  There are Army vets everywhere.  And while most didn’t attend West Point, they will attend when Army comes to DATCU.  And think of the flyovers Army will bring.  Not to mention a great trip to West Point in upstate New York.  I’ve been there twice.  It’s a great trip.

Exactly.  I read once that the media guide asks sports writers to refer to our athletic teams as “NT” or “Mean Green” and not “UNT.”  I asked Vito about that once and he said he just ignores that.

Now, I’m going to partly answer my own question.

 

If a high school student is a really good actor or musician, they can transfer to an “arts magnent” school that has a high concentration in theater or music, etc.  Why can't , rhetorically speaking, a superb high school athlete do the same thing ?  Transfer to a football factory and receive compensation at the same time ?

PS… I don’t favor this.  It’s just thinking out loud.   J

Currently in Texas, a student cannot change high schools for purposes of athletics.  If that continues, how could a high school athlete move to another high school, that is to the “highest bidder”, and still play sports ?

The advantage to donors of giving to the school run NIL is the tax credit.  As the he e program is now, the paid athlete is somewhat an employee of the collective.   Does the school continue to pay the athlete’s insurance or is that a benefit of the collective ?
