The Sun Belt logo was not included with the original striping and end zones. It was added before the Western Kentucky (?) TV broadcast game. I think they used water color paint so it could be easily removed. Or it rained. GO MEAN GREEN

I think Dwayne makes a good point. Who wouldn't be impressed with a private jet and joking on the ride with Terry Bradshaw. And if that's all the "suits" are looking for then La Tech will show off well. However, if the suits are looking for a school with a major airport 30 minutes away to get teams, not executives, in and out quickly, a stadium on I-35, the 5th or 6th biggest television market in the country and brand new modern facilities and venues, well, I hope the "suits" know the difference between smoke and mirrors and the real deal. PS...If you want to fly your private jet from Ruston to Denton, land it on the 6,700 foot Denton Municipal Airport runway (1,700 ft. longer than the airport in Ruston). Use our new FAA control tower and know that after you land you're only about 2 minutes from Apogee Stadium. GO MEAN GREEN

He visited practice Wednesday ? Is he not in school ? Could Purdue be on Spring Break this week ? It looks like he got plenty of playing time his freshman season. I wonder why he is considering transfering to North Texas ?

I have an idea I have had no luck getting the NT students I work with excited about. And it may be an unworkable idea. The Denton South Rotary Club (I'm a Kiwanian)has had a U.S. flag project they've had for many years. 5 or 6 times a year, they place U.S. flags in subscriber's yards a day or so before a holiday and remove them a day or so later. I spoke with the then Rotary Club President about doing the same thing, using their subscription list, and their flag holders to place MEAN GREEN Battle Flags in subscriber yards on home game and bowl game days. We would have to contact U.S. flag subscribers and sell them on the same idea for 5 or 6 home games per year yielding to the Rotary Club in the event of a mutual day conflict. Subscriptions could be sold with little money outlay showing only one flag and one pole until the sales period is over, then, ordering the number of flags and poles needed. We woould place flags on the Friday before a Saturday game (or Monday before a Tuesday game, etc.) and pick them up on Sunday (or whatever). The Rotary Club gets $50 per year per subscriber. The first year would be a wash, but some real money could be made in subsequent years. What do you think ? Wouldn't a block or two look great with Mean Green Flags lining both sides of the street ?

I agree with TFLF. If it doesn't say MEAN GREEN somewhere, one could think the sign is refering to the northern part of Texas. The less verbage the better. It was good seeing you at the GMG.com Basketball Classic Saturday.

Every fan that buys a seat in the "wing zone" gets a chance to "catch" a autographed jersey from Mean Joe Greene. Now, it's not really a catch but a drawing held each home game after the 3rd quarter. The jumbo tron would show Mean Joe "throwing" a jersey toward the fans (toward the camera) and the lucky winner would be announced over the PA system. "Hey Mean Green fans...Catch." And then the winner's name would be called.

The first time I saw those uniforms was at Texas Stadium against UTA. I thought they were the greatest thing I'd ever seen. GO MEAN GREEN

North Texas did the same thing during the Helwig era. We were given the option of paying our Mean Green Club dues or paying for a life insurance policy payable to the Athletic Department. (the joke was that we were then offered a bus trip to all Louisiana road games) I signed up as did many of my Mean Green friends. And none of us died. They stopped the program.
