  1. It seems like after watching the Carroll/Westlake game the other day, I saw a lot of Riley Dodge taking the opportunity to run when nothing opened up down field. All that I hear about is Phillips and Meager. It seems to me that Woody Wilson might be the right QB for TD's system. Yeah? Nay? -GMG!
  2. Yep... I also noticed that our new coach has his picture on the top of the front page of the sports section of USA Today. Very nice. GMG!
  3. Nice job, man. You just made my day.
  4. Folks, everybody makes mistakes. However, please just read your post once before hitting that submit button just to make sure that it is comprehensible. We want to hear what you have to say, but it doesn't do any good if we can't figure out what you are trying to say. Also, your argument will always carry more weight if it is grammatically correct in its presentation. GMG! P.S. - not trying to be an A-Hole here, but Emmitt makes a very legitimate gripe.
  5. Heck yeah. I'd make it up for a saturday scrimmage.
  6. Bad Ass. Did you make that? (Sorry if you've already answered this question.)
  7. Are we pretty good or is WKU down this year or both?
  8. I can't wait to hear about some MEAN GREEN FOOTBALL! Do you think they could put together a Christmas Eve scrimmage just for me? GMG!
  9. I expect us to retroactively be invited to a BCS this year in light of our upcoming success. GMG!
  10. Are we talking about Eddrick Gilmore from Hastings, Harry? I hope so because he was a stud. GMG!
  11. I don't know. I hear the '85 Houston Yates team was full of monsters on defense (including Santana Dotson.) They went 15-0 and won state and they are the only team in the state to make the playoffs the last 30 consecutive years.
  12. I would guess that Harold Etheridge and Kenny Evans are candidates to return? Any speculation? -GMG!
  13. I'm not sure that I'd be excited to head up to good ole Detroit in December either. However, if it involved my beloved Mean Green..... I'd go to freakin' Timbuktu. GMG!
  14. Actually, being the huge Oiler fan that I was growing up, I know that Jerry Glanville coached the "Run and Shoot" Oilers during some of his tenure, but he is actually a defensive minded coach. He is as much of a reason as any for the Oilers developing the Astrodome into the "House of Pain" moniker. He has always coached incredibly aggressive defenses and I believe he is currently Hawaii's DC. Just food for thought. GMG!
  15. I love our boys and our fight, but I just get the feeling that these two teams needed 7 overtimes to figure out which team was worse. Hope things turn around. GMG!
  16. I completely understand your frustrations and I also have higher expectations of our team and our program, but I will NEVER give up on my team. EVER! It wouldn't matter if we dropped down to I-AA. Heck, it wouldn't even matter if we dropped down to NAIA. I would still love my Mean Green. It is easy to be a fan when things are going great, but it's not so fun to stick it out when they struggle. I have to believe that the Athletic Program will eventually reach its goals and provide nationally competitive teams, but like with anything else in life, there is no guarantee that it will ever happen. Have some faith. GMG!
  17. I agree. Fair assessment. Doesn't mean that I am satisfied, though. We can and should be doing better. GMG!
  18. Army almost pulled this one out! I usually cheer for the Aggies when they are playing someone out of state, but how could you not root for the Cadets in this one. I couldn't believe they kept getting first down after first down...... Why did they run the ball at the end? GMG!
  19. Great post, illuvious. I wonder if the coaches will use these guys in this manner. Sounds great in theory anyway! GMG!
  20. Quite honestly folks, Jamario got his yards late in the game when their defense got tired and our O-line started to lean on them. Early in the game they stacked the box and left him no room to run. It also seemed like Jamario was very hesitant that maybe he has lost a step. It seems like he used to explode through the line, but not on saturday. I hope this was just because he had nowhere to go. I think the cat is out of the bag that we are going to run the ball. I think we need to keep force-feeding JQ until teams give us some holes that we can run through. GMG!
  21. I was lucky enough to attend this incredible game at Fouts. Lots of screaming, Woody chanting, and smiling all around. Here are some things I noticed: 1. Officiating was actually pretty good. Not great, but I've seen many a horrendous Big West crew stink up Fouts in years past. 2. Woody Wilson should play from now on. He has the ability to lead the offense up and down the field with consistency. I have not seen this from Phillips and Meager. It just looks like Woody can't wait to try and shred the defense. I love that. 3. It looks to me that Germaine Dawson had another solid game. Very nice for a guy who was not supposed to start this year. 4. Did I notice correctly that Ike Thomas didn't play until the second half? This confuses me because it seems like their O-line had a lot of trouble with him. 5. I have to eat a little bit of crow on this next point. I am a big believer in winning the line of scrimmage and that you can't win games otherwise. I think we actually lost the battle up front all night, but made up for it with great quarterback, linebacker, and receiver play. This was a great win. I hate to be a sore loser, but I am so glad we beat those arrogant pricks. I wanted us to win this game so bad it hurt. I still think that Tulsa and Akron are going to be too much for us, but whipping the ponies will almost satisfy me until Sunbelt play starts. Please respond and let me know your opinions! Thanks and GMG!
  22. Did anyone else notice that he seemed to be playing with a purpose on saturday? As far as I remember, he is normally Graves' backup. Good news on the depth front! GMG!
  23. I'm sure there are other posts addressing this issue, but I watched the game on Saturday and it seems like Woody gives us the best chance to win this year. I didn't watch any summer ball, but it seems like Phillips is a liability to us under center. He threw some nice balls, but he just doesn't have any mobility in the pocket much less the ability to get out of the pocket. Woody seemed like he was in control. I think he has earned the job. If he plays exclusively against SMU, I think we win. If we see anybody else, bad things can happen. Somebody who watched preseason please comment and tell me how the UT game compared with spring and summer practices with regard to the QB competition. Woody for president! GMG!
