The next step is to have the game experience consistent no matter the opponent. Someone needs to pass the note to management that the “GMG Lights” would work better if the arena was darker.

I like a well lit arena where I can see all the stands though.  UNT had minimal lighting a few years ago except for the lights shining on the court and it was not the best IMO.  Felt like I was at a concert.  haha

  2. Thanks @UNTLifer  -- that is helpful ... but disappointing info.  We had some GREAT memories taking the kiddos to the homecoming parade each year back in the day, them loading up on candy pre-Halloween, etc.  In fact, we had so much fun we started inviting non-UNT family friends who brought their kids as well, we all ate at various restaurants in the Denton town square pre-or post parade ($$$ for local merchants) and now my oldest is going to UNT as he enjoyed the games and parades so much he has fond memories of the place.

Wonder how many possible future students and lost $$ to local businesses they are forfeiting with this stupid policy?  But, y'know, sustainability. 😞  🤢

Not going for it. Morris is essentially a CEO, and a very well paid one, to take over an organization and build on it. Any CEO would have already been run out of the company on his golden parachute if they took a reasonable organization and completely turned it unprofitable in 10 months.

We hired him to improve the program, and it's almost worse than ever.  Bad decisions up front with the promise that maybe it will get better don't play anywhere else... and we customers shouldn't accept it. I don't care if he might be a good hire 3 years from now. This staff is bad now.

You give an example of a CEO needing to be run out in 10 months.  Fair enough.  But you're wanting to give this guy 2 games (aka 2 weeks)?!  Um, OK.

Finally, for all the people ready to fire our coach because we're 0-2 with 2 bad losses let me leave you with this .... it's a good thing the internet hadn't been invented yet in 1973.  Did you know Hayden Fry started out 0-2 including an embarrassing 31-7 loss to UTA on Opening Day.  UTA!!  Now I'm NOT saying Eric Morris is going to turn out like Hayden Fry.  However, I WOULD put a $100,000 bet in Vegas that if this message board was around in 1973 it would be filled with "Fire Hayden Fry" threads, "What the Hell is he DOING?!" and my personal favorite "The North Texas offense has only scored 10 points in 2 games against UTA and Memphis.  WTF?!?  This OC has got to go ... and Fry with him".  C'mon now... you know it's true.  🙂

  4. Yeah, we need to take the next step and I think the admin really blew it by not bringing in Nick Saban or Kirby Smart to fix things.  As far as the defense, why did we not at least attempt to get Dan Quinn in here?  Look how much success he's had with the Cowboys!

In a related note, why has my posting gone down by significant amounts?  Because the board has pretty much become an asswhip (unless we win the NIT).  The same people that predict 9-3 and 10-2 records in the other thread wanna fire coaches after one game.  Really?!

Yes, today sucked.  I was there and it was really bad. But, overreact much?  Now if the same crap happens against FIU and La Tech, then yes I will have flashbacks to Ron Mendoza.  Now if you'll excuse me I need to call the Texas Hammer or the Law Shark for a case of extreme whiplash from reading these different threads.

I get that but what are we getting out of it?  Seems like Wyoming gets a lot.  They sure will not bring any fans to our stadium.  I feel like we need to get a little more demanding in our expectations.

...  and somewhere a poster on the Wyoming message board named "Uncle Oliver" is posting "North Texas sure will not bring any fans to our stadium.  I feel like we need to get a little more demanding in our expectations".

I'd like to think you know that's not the same as living nearby. What? Is his family going to take a week off work any time they want to spend time together? Same with his wife's family? Is he going to pay their bills too so they can take a bunch of time of work to hang out? Is he going to fly his family in every hone game? Again, I'd like to think you know it's not the same.

I think GMG_Dallas is in the first stage of the 5 stages of grief -- denial.  Once it becomes official in the the next few days, we might start seeing some "anger" posts from him (Stage 2) .  It will be OK y'all.  Ross Hodge is a capable replacement and Grant will go down a legend at UNT just like Hayden Fry.

I’m deeply saddened by this news.  As per the usual, UNT tried to cheap out on things.  Pay this man what your last coach made and quit making excuses.  I would bet all the AD department will receive healthy raises so the coaching should as well.  #TYPICAL UNT

I think Tom McKrackin is setting a GMG record for most downvoted posts in multiple threads within a 5 day period of time.  To the point where I think it's just troll jobs at this point.  haha

  8. Who knew this topic would end up being 50% posts about whether or not to fire our most successful coach in our most successful sport?  I guess with Seth being gone, we now have a need to fire someone else.  I swear, we have a lot of Ricky Bobby's on this board -- "if you're not first, you're last".   Just waiting on someone to start a "Let's fire all the coaches" thread.

  9. Trivia time -- which QB sounds pretty good to you?

    Candidate A -- 2406 yards passing   19 TD's  10 INT's

    Candidate B -- 3309 yards passing  32 TD's  13 INT's

    Candidate C -- 3306 yards passing  31 TD's  9 INT's

    Candidate D -- 2642 yards passing  17 TD's  9 INT's

    ----------------------------------------------------------

OK, so most of you are probably going with candidates B & C and thinking candidates A & D are "weak sauce".  And, the envelope please ....  Candidate A is the great Will Levis from Kentucky, listed as a top 3 QB by both Mel Kiper and Todd McShay for the upcoming NFL draft.  Candidate D is Spencer Sanders from Oklahoma State, who is hitting the transfer portal and I know some of y'all are very excited to get this Denton Ryan grad back in his hometown.

Candidate B is Austin Aune and Candidate C is Tanner Mordecai from SMU.  What's my point?  Well, for starters, how many SMU fans have spent their entire fall doing insane rants on the message board almost each and every game about how their QB sucks?  Some of the posters on here seemed so upset with Aune I'm surprised they didn't threaten to jump from the top of the Eagle Wing.   Second of all, Sanders vs Aune?  11 passes less thrown by Sanders than Aune //  15 less TD's for Sanders // just a 0.9% difference in completion percentage between the 2.

So, why am I posting this?  Do I think Aune will play in the NFL? Probably not, although I hope I'm wrong.  I'm posting this because our guy finished 17th in the NCAA for yards thrown, 8TH in TD's thrown and some of y'all act like we had an Andrew McNulty / Josh Greer combo at QB this year.  Be thankful for what you have ... you may miss it when it's gone.

Cosmopolitan if you are with someone you love. Its a Marriott property, if you're a points whore like me.

Venetian rooms are massive if you need space.

I'm a Marriott points whore too and we've got our party of 10 guys staying at the Marriott Grand Château right off the Strip.  It's pretty much across the street from the Cosmopolitan.  They have accommodations up to 3 bedroom villas and 2200 square feet if you're going with several people.

This thread is the perfect snapshot of this fan base. Everyone wants us to be a top notch program but no one wants to pay for it. I don’t think most of you realize exactly how cheap it is to be a North Texas fan. Our Club donation requirement is probably about what it costs to sit in the second tier at a real top school.
I am not the type to tell fans to go away or anything like that, but I honestly don’t understand the mentality I am hearing here. Two major themes: 1) “I am not here to support the school or the students - just want to see a winning team.” 2) “We aren’t as good as I want (or something has happened I don’t like) so I will stop giving money to support the program but I still expect them to have a top tier program.”

Both of these positions are in my opinion indefensible. They sound like the fans of a pro team and not those of their alma mater. If you don’t want to support the program anymore that’s your business. But stop expecting the program to keep going forward if the money starts drying up - especially since some here seem to be actively trying to encourage others to stop buying/giving.

People complaining about “not getting enough” for a friggin’ donation. Good lord.

THIS.  100%.  We have people complaining about "forcing MGSF donors to pay $120 more for blue parking" with that $120 going to student athlete scholarships.  I know from other donations that I make to charity and stuff that when I donate $300 or so I get like $500 - $1000 worth of stuff back in return.  << Cue sarcasm alert >>  And while I absolutely despise throwing out UT comparisons because I hate them so much, I have a work friend that donates $5000 for her 4 Longhorn seats and she gets a parking pass.   I haven't once heard her complain that the parking passes at UT aren't $800 per game so she should just quit donating and give up her seats.
