What's to keep the MWC from just merging into the PAC to keep that Brand and P5 status?

No different than $mut buying their way into a P5 conference rather than earning it.

I think that the PAC 2 does not want all the Mountain West teams. Not sure why the Mountain West would be bending over to help the pack these next couple years if there was not a guarantee for that to happen

How involved does the HC have to be on defense for it to be good? I always thought this varied from staff to staff, and it could absolutely work for the HC to leave said side of the ball to the DC.

Absolutely get that the Leach tree has a history of bad defenses, but I don't buy the idea that they are offensive gurus AND sabotaging the DC's efforts.

I would love more insight into how this is managed by Coach Morris.

Good points. I am not saying he is sabotaging, but if we can get the interest from P5 O-linemen, we should have better luck with D-linemen.

Why can he not be considered as a DC candidate now?  I think he could do better than the other guy.

Until our HC changes his AirRaid defense thinking (a reference to Leach's defenses) and decides to place an emphasis on the defensive side of the ball and focus recruiting efforts there, it might not matter who is DC.

PS - Yes, I am ticked that we had the worst Defense in FBS, and Morris made a lackluster effort to improve it.

It does feel a little strange, but going from AAC to a Big 12 is a step up. IIRC, he wasn’t a coach at Iowa St.   Wish he stuck around for continuity.  Interested to see who we bring in.

He's wishing a friend good luck. You never told someone that you work with that left for another job that you wish them luck?

Preview of new helmets utilizing the Eagle/Texas logo we saw with football. Hopefully we see more green jerseys this year, but I expect we'll see more of the same: rotation between black, green, and white for every series.

Nothing says Mean Green like.... never mind. Would it be too much this year if we play again on Saint Patrick's Day to wear green? Last year, it threw off the announcers when they said where else would you rather be on S.P. Day than the home of the Mean Green, and we came out in black.

P.S. - NO, I will never stop commenting when one of our teams chooses Black over Gren and White week after week, and the softball team is the worst at this.

This will ultimately lead to a much better situation for a tiny sliver of athletes and destroy the opportunity of the vast majority entirely

Excellent point. The problem is not many give a damn about the good of the game. It has become all about "ME." End of the day, it seems most schools and players could care less as long as they are benefiting.

  7. Pay them. Let them pay for their own classes and tutors. By the way, also take away all of the preferential scheduling and the cherry-picking of the classes and times they get to choose. Since they want to be "employees" can't wait to see someone fired at halftime of a game and asked to clear out their lockers.

P.S. - Maybe they will bargain to eliminate ALL mandated student fees that students get no say in.

We're making more as ACC members while foregoing that revenue than we were making in the AAC.

Anyone in the AAC SHOULD be desperate enough to take that deal, so yes, we were desperate.  But it's not a financially bad move.

How freaking pathetic are you that you constantly come here to post. Go away. Stay away.

Not the rules any more. Looks like guys can transfer as much as they want now.

Didn't Alabama have a player that just left HS and early enrolled in January already hit the portal? I don't care if the coach left; allowing players to transfer before they even practice is asinine.

It seems the DL coach is happy with the upcoming DL prospects that we signed.

    Two comments:
1 - What else would you expect him to say?
2 - When you have the worst D in FBS, you need transfers, not HS players that you will most likely spend 2 years developing before they make an impact or transfer. We need help now!

  11. The disparity and the efforts made to recruit offensive linemen compared to defensive linemen is borderline scary. I know I keep beating the proverbial dead horse, but this shows where Morris's priorities lay, and they're not even close. I will push for Morris and hope he does well, but if, in the end, he does not survive as our head coach, there are not going to be a lot of questions about why this happened. One of Leach's bad traits that I wish Morris had not picked up was his lack of emphasis on defense or the belief that his offense would consistently score enough. Also, as I've said before, it's getting harder for me to dump on Caponi when it looks like he is not given the support he needs to recruit players.
