  1. Agree. If it's just another way to get more P5 conference teams in, then NO! With an expansion I would like to see them switch to where the 32 regular season conference winner get the automatic bid, and if a different team win the conferences tournament, and they have a winning records, that conference should get a 2nd team as long as that teams NET rating is within the top "X" of teams.
  2. RECRUITING CALENDAR FOR THE REST IF THIS FOOTBALL YEAR o Except: December 19, 2022 – January 12, 2023 is a dead period § Except: The seven days immediately before the first day of classes of the institution’s second academic term that are not part of the contact period (applicable only to prospective student-athletes who intend to enroll midyear): Quiet period January 30– February 28, 2023: Dead period March 1 – April 14, 2023: Quiet period April 15 – May 31, 2023: Evaluation period o Coaches can take 168 evaluation days (or 216 for U.S. service academies). An authorized recruiter can use one evaluation day to assess a recruit’s athletic ability. Then, they can use another evaluation day to assess the recruit’s academic qualifications. Coaches/recruiters can do both assessments on the same day, and then take a second evaluation day to evaluate athletic ability again if they choose. o The days in April/May that are not designated as evaluation days are considered part of the quiet period. · June 1 – July 31, 2023: Quiet period o July 25-31, 2023: Official visits may not be provided to high school juniors · June 27 – July 24, 2023: Dead period Dead Period While the term “dead period” makes it seem like all recruiting stops during this time, that’s actually not the case. Athletes and coaches are still allowed to communicate via phone, email, social media and other digital communication channels. While NCAA Division 1 programs are prohibited from conducting any in-person recruiting, D1 college coaches can still contact student-athletes via digital forms of communication during the dead period. Quite Period The NCAA defines the quiet period as a time when “a college coach may not have face-to-face contact with college-bound student-athletes or their parents off the college campus and may not watch student-athletes compete or visit their high school.” To break it down, the NCAA Quiet Period is a time you can talk to college coaches in-person on their college campus. However, the coach is not allowed to watch athletes compete in-person, visit their school, talk to them at their home—or talk to them anywhere outside of the college campus. Evaluation Period The NCAA Evaluation Period is a specific time of year when college coaches are allowed to watch an athlete compete in person or visit their school. However, coaches are not allowed to communicate with that athlete (or parents) off the college campus. Coaches can sit in the stands during a recruit’s practice or game, as well as visit the recruit’s school. This gives college coaches a chance to talk to the recruit’s coach, teachers or guidance counselor to get a better understanding of the student-athlete’s character. After the visit, the coach may call or email the recruit and let them know how their experience was at the school or game
  3. @TheReal_jayD Any "rumors" from your end on Portal players? Honestly, not too sure what to expect with so little time to recruit as a staff.
  4. What's that saying about all of your good deeds can be forgotten with one bad deed. This would be it 🤢
  5. Anywhere but SMU or UTSA and I wish him well
  6. The award honors student-athletes with significant community service endeavors, good academic standing and participation in their sport.
  7. Thanks. That is what I was thinking that they were, in many cases, additional position coaches. I remembering this past season hearing that several schools had been advised by the NCAA their analysts were getting to involved with the on the field coaching activities.
  8. FBS transfer portal window closes on January 18th. It's not real clear (hopefully someone can clarify) but it seems the window for FCS players closed today.
  9. Hopefully someone with knowledge can share some insight. Have seen several teams hiring GAs as position coaches and there are many cases where players have commented how much they had helped coach them.
  10. Noticed Coach Brophy is following. Sawyer is from Lubbock
  11. You can also be very fast, but if your reaction timing is off even the slightest, someone not as fast can get there before you.
  12. Cal and LaTech are not just standing around not trying to improve.
  13. I don't think I would call it a series. It's trying to find the best available option in a unique situation. You don't have the option of another FCS school, and I'm glad we're not trying to get ourselves into money game with a P5. If people wanna get upset with this they should be ticked at Wren for not getting this done a lot sooner.
  14. Think there's a bit more to it than that. Here's an example - Directs the day-to-day operations of the university’s player personnel division for football. Oversees activities associated with viewing game highlight films to evaluate athlete performance for recruiting potential. Coordinates with on field coaches for organization of activities and information for analyzing potential recruits. Manages the hot list for on field coaches to rank potential student athletes for five year periods. Oversees the development of Fall and Spring evaluation schedules. Stays abreast of all NCAA recruiting compliance rules and updates staff as needed. Coordinates with Athletics Compliance Office regularly and manages actions required to ensure compliance. Develops and monitors player personnel budget. Meets with coaches to review call logs and check for accuracy. Ensures all assigned tasks are in compliance with department, University, Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.
