  1. Does UTSA or Texas Tech know about this commit?
  2. I wasn't speaking about any particular player but to the number of competent guards on the roster in general. It could become problematic when starters are out played by reserves in certain games. Who do you insert into the starting lineup the next game? Yes, good problem to have for the coach but again, kids feel that they should start and/or play more minutes. Just wanted to see an even distribution of scholarships for all positions/roles.
  3. The only concern I have is how do you find quality minutes for all the guards? There doesn't appear to be an appreciable difference in ability. Many seem to be interchangeable. No throw in the walk on and Christian Moore. Transfers don't sign on to sit on the bench. To keep everybody happy we'll certainly have to increase the pace from 64.5 ppg. Will be interesting for sure. Now if we can just add a Nickola Jokic with the last spot, I'll shut the hell up.
  4. Don’t understand the Deion Sanders hate. Hell, I suggested we hire him before he went to Jackson State. Of course it’s about Deion Sanders. He will not run away from those thoughts. He is as genuine as they come. Who cares as long as he produces? Every other coach in America uses NIL to their advantage; if they can. Watch his interviews and he consistently advocates against money to kids that has not done anything.
  5. Would be nice to get Colorado on the schedule as they have already sold out all season tickets (1st time since 1996)
  6. "Good scorer in high school" and good shooter in a D1 college program are 2 different things. Yes, I often see improvement in shooting but mainly in the NBA; over the course of a player's professional career. NBA basketball is their full time job where they receive a substantial bag to perfect their craft with the best coaches and training there is to offer. Many play in the league well over 10 years. Phil Forte's HS and college teammate, Marcus Smart, is a good example. Shooting was Smart's weakness when he came into the league. The question I posed was how long should it take a 4-5 year college player when they have already been in the program 2 years? I saw Stone play 3 full games in high schools on NFHS. He did not appear to be a lights out shooter that we want him to be. Their top player, Bijan Cortes, was a 4-Star kid that signed with OU. (just entered the portal). Stone was more of a facilitator at a forward position garnering many layups in the process (and occasional outside shots). A college coach today can't afford to wait on a kid to find and/or improve his shot with competition as fierce as it is. Wonder why the transfer portal is so ridiculously high every year? These kids were that dude or a co-dude in high school. Lack of confidence and/or skills at the next level should have a certain shelf life. This team is coming off an NCAA tournament win, NIT championship and moving to an overall better basketball conference. The question remain, how long should a college program wait on a kid?
  7. How much longer will it take to find his shot? You can either shoot or you can't. From what I've seen, he can't shoot. STATS 2022-23 2021-22 GP MIN FG% 3P% FT% REB AST BLK STL PF TO PTS 38 15.5 39.4 24.6 72.7 2.2 0.8 0.0 0.3 1.2 0.5 2.5 13 4.8 20.0 9.1 33.3 1.5 0.3 0.0 0.1 0.4 0.0 0.6
  8. My sister’s grandson signed with the Minnesota Vikings; their top free agent target. Had over 30 college offers before UNT offered late. Exciting times for Aune and many other families going through the process.
  9. Played with Aaron Scott in HS. Mom was a big time UNT commit at 6-5. Aunt also played at UNT (Andrea & Nicole) Grandfather was Lucious Jackson that starred in the NBA with Wilt Chamberlain. Jackson just passed last October.
  10. I think a great interview would be with Coach O and/or Chris Gilbert for football recruiting. Maybe the podcast(s) can include specific questions received from the fans; in advance. Often times, I tune in for the duration of a podcast only to be disappointed that certain questions/topics were never discussed. The most informative I remember was with Darryl Terrell. Guy talked specifics throughout the podcast. As others have already mentioned, all podcast are welcomed.
  11. I can understand the City of Arlington desiring more national attention but the naming of the team “Arlington Renegades” seems to limit regional interest, exposure and coverage. It just seems more acceptable to name the team Dallas, Fort Worth, DFW or even North Texas. Otherwise, why does anyone in Irving, Plano or Frisco care? Anyway, congratulations to the franchise.
  12. Unless a walk on was granted a scholarship, I’m thinking 4 more after the addition of the 3.
  13. Definitely an up tempo guy. The question is what type of offense will Hodge employ? He doesn’t appear to be to interested in passing the ball around. Less than 2 apg could be problematic for a 6-0 point guard. I actually liked what little I saw of Christian Moore; the infrequent time he played. Like what I see and 3 years of eligibility. Don’t see his game translated over in a slow down offense.
  14. Doesn’t make much sense when your new head coach is convinced that we are only a G5 program; with no aspirations to elevate the basketball program. Why would he encourage his borderline P5 player to move on and out? No the job is not finished and yes, Tylor could have helped the program more. Does he ever go after legit P5 players in the portal? Or, does he have the mindset that we are just North Texas. Does this have something to do with Reese, Woolridge, Abou, Hamlet, Mo Gipson, and others, moving on? We did just beat Purdue, Wisconsin and Oklahoma State. Let Perry make the decision to move on on his own. Sell him on the opportunity to help do greater things. In every interview where I’ve heard Ross speak he characterizes us as a G5 school. Would we have been better off with a national search to secure a P5 coach/assistant coach coming in to build a P5 type program? I get the lack of NIL money and maybe this was 99% the issue. Im just venting. This was probably the best fit for Perry in his last year of college basketball. He was becoming a legend off the court in Denton and we encouraged him to walk. I’m sure McCasland could have signed him if he felt he could help Texas Tech. Missed opportunity.
  15. The Head Coach/former Associate Head Coach (Ross Hodge) has been on the job for the past 5-6 years. The Director of Scouting has been in the role for 2 years. The new women's coach was hired about the same time and has staff in place and 3 signed recruits. Albeit bringing everyone but the cheerleaders with him.
  16. SOC does not have an indoor practice facility. (nor any other school in DISD) That practice was not at SOC and was not their team. Probably some sort of camp. I am hopeful that they will include IPFs in a bond package; to compete with suburban schools. Heard a discussion about 2 years ago that DISD would desire 4 IPFs throughout the city to support over 20 schools. A 2025 kid that is up to 30 offers, including the high majors. His recruitment is based more on hype than actual production (imho)
  17. That’s good but I don’t think that’s a “big time” commit. Not bashing the signing
  18. Hopefully her best basketball is ahead of her and she will contribute. Don’t see this as a big time commit. Welcome to the family.
