  1. Agree 100% ... but I don't see it happening. Now we have 3+ years of mediocre football to enjoy before the next regime change. Wash, rinse, repeat at North Texas. Being bad really gets old........
  2. We're officially a bad team... again... this is terrible
  3. I love this look ... although a little weird to wear non-white on a road game as Rudy mentioned. Also, please, please burn the dishwater greys - they should never see the field again! 😎
  4. Guys, afraid we're looking at a 4 or 5 win season at this point... Someone HAS to be held accountable for this mess. One of the worst defenses I can remember with no apparent upside for next year. New DC, new defensive position coaches, and a heavy dose of Juco might at least make next year tolerable.
  5. I always liked the 1983 - 1994 logo with the NT circle and the Eagle. Too bad it will always have the I-AA stigma attached to it. Overall I think our branding today is best: Mean Green and SOW 😎
  6. We have a pretty good chance at 6 wins... but no margin for error... Losses: La Tech, UAB Wins: Middle Tennessee, Charlotte, UTEP, Rice Although (assuming we would get a bowl bid), I fear we would get another serious bowl beat-down since we have one of the worst defenses in arguably the worst FBS conference. But if Mason's healthy, at least he would get to add to his stats and say he played in 3 bowl games.
  7. UH and SMU showed us the wide gap in talent between the AAC and CUSA. Both teams were simply much bigger, stronger, faster than our guys. To play with those teams, we really have to recruit at a higher level. The 2019 class was good and 2020 looks good to this point. There's only so much you can do when your OL and DL are getting pushed around all game - and your opponent's WR's look like speedy giants next to your entire defense. We looked like we were playing in quicksand...
  8. Strange thing is that, after 3 games, I still really don't have a good read on this team. Below average defense that plays well in spurts, with a really bad secondary... offense that sputters but has big play ability and now has Mason and Rico hurt (hopefully both will be ok). I honestly have no idea what to expect from this point forward 🤔
  9. My biggest fear is that, after 2 games of seeing our O-Line and D-Line struggle, we'll just stick with the same schemes and have a very rough season. For whatever reason (recruiting, strength and conditioning), our guys on the lines truly seem smaller and weaker than our opponents. Typically that means you have to modify your scheme to be successful (quick passes and roll-outs, zone coverage - basically use your speed to offset a size/strength deficiency). You can't simply put 30 pounds of muscle on linemen during a football season. Anyway, I hadn't realized how far behind we were in developing guys on both lines until this year 😞
  10. Unfortunately, our offense can pretty much be stopped because our O-Line is so bad and our receivers can only get opened if they don't get touched. Plus our defense is terrible. We'll win some games, but 6-7 wins looks realistic. Honestly, we struggled in the 2nd half against an average Southland team.
  11. This a million times ... and our "vaunted offense" wasn't even close to the task of keeping up with any of these teams. We're paying a lot of money to this coaching staff to get curb stomped in most every big game............. extremely disappointing
  12. Being able to convert on 3rd or 4th and 1 would be nice 😎
  13. Thankfully this happened in January and not in August ... I can imagine he'll receive team discipline and some amount of counseling about animal cruelty which will be good for him and help him to mature and grow-up. The team will be reminded repeatedly by the coaching staff about the pitfalls of social media.
  14. So how does this work exactly from a scholarship perspective... do we now have an open 2019 scholarship for a late signee (like maybe a Juco DT)? Appreciate all that Jaylen did in helping to revive this program! Very talented - sometimes seemed to have lack of focus - but really hope he kills it in the NFL.
  15. My final thought... I haven't seen a UNT team this poorly prepared for a game in a loooooong time... Coaching staff should be embarrassed - they did not represent our university well. After the 2 FAU debacles last year plus last year's bowl debacle, I thought they would have learned how to get a team prepared for a game like this year's bowl. I 100% support Littrell and Company for all of the great things we've seen over the last 3 years - but they really need to not let this happen again.
  16. Definitely was "a Total Team Loss" - everything failed from the end of the 2nd Qtr forward. I hope SL doesn't start to lose any part of the team... this is where he earns his $1.4M... they need to come back and beat FAU at home and then UTSA - and then win their bowl. No excuses - go do your job and get the rest of the team doing theirs.
  17. I also love SL and the great ride that we are on with this program. However, I really wish that SL and Harrell would stop getting out-coached in these big games. They'll continue to get better and better, but it's painful watching replays of these big games and seeing all of the missed opportunities with play calling. I think 2 of those 4th down plays would be easily converted with a simple pass into the flat to a tight-end releasing or a WR just going 2 yards and sitting. Anyway, the arrow is pointed upward, and that is a good place to be!
  18. Well, all of the pressure is off now about winning the CUSA West. Will be interesting to see how this team plays through its last 4 games knowing they are bowl eligible and the West is lost (especially the 2 CUSA East games). I imagine they'll probably be up for Rice on Homecoming, and then we'll see after that.
  19. Watching that Iowa footage reminded me of how much we miss Mr. Jeffrey Wilson. He was like Loren Easly and Nic Smith all in one player... quick, tough, and break-away speed.
  20. Whew - I feared we would discontinue all athletic programs after our 2 pt loss to la tech 😉 Love the master plan... I've gone back-and-forth between a new basketball facility versus an Athletics/University combined effort to enhance the Super Pit... but this new plan includes Volleyball and practice courts in the new basketball arena which is nice. I've also gone back-and-forth about resurrecting baseball. I do believe having baseball makes us more attractive to other conferences as we claw our way up the food chain and would give the athletic department more ways to advertise the university during Spring and early Summer.
  21. Agreed - I hope Fine doesn't miss too much time, but we'll see. He was obviously in a lot of pain. The Easly injury looked really bad.... We may be limping through the next 4+ games... it will be really tough.
  22. Crushing Baylor 52-14 in 2003 in front of what was the largest home football crowd in school history (before the greatness of our SMU beatdown this year ☺️)
  23. Impressive! Looked like me benching 140 lbs 😁
  24. Agreed - the amount of excitement generated from a big, marquee win is amazing and really helps to propel a program to the next level. I remember our "win" against Texas in 1988. The amount of excitement from that one game was huge. A win at Arkansas this year would go a long way 🙂
