  1. Hey, at least we know it won't be a rain out 😁 It's going to be hard on those Cal boys baking on the 102 degree full-sun sideline!
  2. Those Fouts Field attendance numbers are crazy... only 2,500 for the last game and only 1 game over 12,000. Fouts looks so small in the video clip with Coach Fry ... love his "we'll run the Statue of Liberty from the end zone" comment! 🙂
  3. Wow - wonder what she did wrong to get demoted like that????
  4. I think this translates into the Big 12 pondering which PAC-12 teams are the most attractive to grab now that the PAC-12 is all but dead. Maybe the Big 12 would see Stanford as a more attractive team/school than Arizona State for example.
  5. That 3 million sure would have looked good on the Athletic Center balance sheet!! 😃 Frisco is a UNT campus location and not an independent institution, so its enrollment counts toward the Denton (main) campus enrollment (so we like that more). Dallas is an independent school within the UNT System, so I guess we like them less since their students are really not Denton (flagship campus) students.
  6. Similar for me ... I bought 4 season tickets this year after taking a 2-year hiatus from having season tickets. While I know that I can only make about 3 games, I want to support the new regime however I can.
  7. Nice to hear the commissioner give props to the North Texas men's basketball program! 🙂 In the "new school promo clips" on Twitter that were posted in another thread, men's basketball (deservedly) got the most press as an immediate contribution to the American.
  8. Not our best uniform combo but not our worst either. UTSA is a tad bit ahead - so we have some work to do today!
  9. Yes, Happy Easter to the Mean Green Nation! He is Risen Indeed!!
  10. He's definitely earned it. If we lose our Men's BBall HC every 6 years to a P5 because we're winning championships most every year, then I'll be just fine. 🙂 Time to build on this success and get ready for AAC basketball, a conference that actually gets more than 1 team into the NCAA each year!!
  11. Man, what an absolutely proud moment to be Green!!!! Love this team sooooo much. Thank you players and coaches - you've made us all so proud!
  12. Plus, this allows us to open the player pipeline through Wyoming! 😆
  13. In the same way that we moved on from Seth, I feel we must move on from Jalie at this point. She's an RV hire with mediocre results and plenty of years to establish her program. I wish things would have really clicked the past 2 years, but we're about to move into a conference with a much higher competition level. Thank goodness that mediocre is no longer "good enough" at UNT. Appreciate that she has been a really strong ambassador for her university and hope that she is able to land somewhere quickly!
  14. True, although this isn't particular to UNT. Basically every great Senior across the country will be evaluating their 5th year options after their season is over... so I don't fault Tylor at all for at least looking at options. Every school has to do this same re-recruiting. I wish folks would leave the players alone until after the season with these questions. I can imagine Tylor is like "Um, can't we wait until we're done playing to discuss this? Maybe ask me a question about how excited we are for the CUSA tourny?" 🙃
  15. Agreed - without SMU, the AAC would still have 12 football members (if the SMU thing really happens at some point). Our new conference was definitely prepared. If Air Force or Colorado State petitioned to join, I'm sure they would get serious consideration. Otherwise, the new AAC will be just fine and doesn't need to reach to grab another school just as a back fill.
  16. No doubt that a move to the PAC-12 would be an upgrade for SMU albeit a somewhat watered-down PAC-12 after UCLA and USC leave. I always felt SMU would not be in the reconstituted AAC for very long. That being said and assuming SMU would be in the "PAC-12 South", SMU would be the only Central Time Zone school in a conference primarily covered by the West Coast media (South members today are Arizona State, Arizona, UCLA, USC, Colorado, and Utah). Since SMU already struggles with attendance, I'm not sure that games with Utah and Arizona are going to really move the needle much for them (versus games with geo-similar schools like UNT, Tulsa, Rice, Tulane, etc.).
  17. I think the announcers aren't the only pro-UGA'ers tonight - refs are definitely not helping TCU. However, UGA is absolutely heads-and-shoulders better. Not many teams would fare better tonight ... maybe Ohio State in a rematch or Alabama ... but UGA is definitely different-level.
  18. Yeah, I have learned to truly hate nUTSAck 🙂 Thank goodness we have leadership at the top that isn't satisfied with mediocrity in any program, including athletics! Seth brought us some great memories, but it was absolutely time to move on.
  19. I'd give Wren an A- for his time at UNT... Positives are AD modernization as mentioned above along with the Grant hiring, new Track/Soccer facility, improved media presence, and of course our admission to the American. Negatives are on the marketing and football performance side ... continued struggles with attendance in major sports and a fuzzy roadmap for our football program. All in all, a strong tenure at AD. Hoping that our next AD will take us to even further heights in the American!
  20. According to ESPN, UNT has the #6 offense in the nation while UAB has the #28 offense (yards/game). However on defense... UAB is ranked #34 and our beloved Mean Green are #118. 😞 We better be ready to score some serious points!!
  21. I tend to agree... UTSA play makers just made some incredible plays on that last drive. Frank Harris is UTSA's Mason Fine basically - will be glad when he graduates 🙂 I do feel we should have called a time out after the 1-handed TE catch down the middle (before the TD) to give our guys a breather and really get setup properly. That's a miss on our coaches IMHO.
  22. Brian is an interesting guy and story since he played a different position in the NFL (Guard instead of TE). The guy went to 6 Pro Bowls over his 11-year NFL career and is part of the KC Chiefs HoF. Not sure why he doesn't get more publicity/mentions at UNT. He's a Texas guy from Waxahachie ... certainly seems like a success story UNT would promote! Probably the 2nd most successful NFL'er from UNT behind Mean Joe?
  23. Memphis - 51 UNT - 27 This will be a wash, rinse, and repeat type of score for most games this year unfortunately.
