  1. Mostly I've seen them on the east side of bridge over 35 near the ramp going up. usually go up and welcome them if I am going that way. Most of our visitors are well mannered ( excludes UTSA!!!)
  2. I'll take some of that action all day long. One win on campus at SMU in 26 tries?
  3. Letting them come back set some bad habits for later in the season. You have to keep a foot on their neck and finish each game. LaTech and UAB saw this in the game. Shane Buchelle will make this game in Dallas so much different. Each turnover will cost a T.D.
  4. I would not have been that confident. Any team that could blow a four touchdown lead against ODU does not warrant 100% confidence over anyone they play. That said if we don't beat ACU I don't see the first win coming until after Houston.
  5. Other than a Texas Stadium W with Fry, has UNT ever posted a win in Dallas over SMU?
  6. This has only been tried for 40+ years now!!! Good luck on getting Denton County to support UNT. There are more lame excuses than there are residents!!
  7. Art is the perfect Seth Littrell replacement if you want nationwide publicity and a team that won’t fold the tents anytime it gets the lead. All three losses were very winnable and the last one downright embarrassing. If SL wants to go let him. He may have improved the situation here, but he threw away the chance to post a great season. He is ready to move or else he would not have hired an agent.
  8. To me it just proves he cares little about the future here cause he knows he is outta here after the bowl with Mason in tow so let his successor worry about any future here
  9. A player has to be suspect of his QB who has “considered” leaving. This is even more proof that Seth has his own agenda if he won’t play his other QBs. You think we beat FAU w/o Quinn? Good luck on that one.
  10. You can't have a rivalry if you don't play. Look at recent history ( unlike the pre WWII history that SMU touts) and you will see that we have been very competitive with TCU. They don't won't to play cause they might get beaten and like SMU their fans would be embarrassed like I am that we lost decisively to SBC Troy in last year's NO Bowl'. They could easily schedule us in place of one of their traditional "patsy" openers aia Southern this year. They just don't want a competitive opponnet early.
  11. That is what everyone keeps missing in the scenario.
  12. The AAC will never be in reach as long as SMU is a member. They would never, ever submit to being in a conference with us.
  13. Baffling, but it seems to happen every game lately--LaTech, UTEP,UAB. If your going on fourth down at least call a play that stands a chance. If you have no play at least punt for field position, batted down balls at the line are going to happen with a 5 ft. 10 in. QB
  14. I still say the game with Ramsey to Shanklin @ Fayetteville was even more obvious bias officiating. Chuck Dicus of ARK (and a Garland Owl) was covering Shanklin that night. He told Ron years later that from his perspective as the covering DB that two touchdowns were definitely taken away by the refs. Two years later after I had begun work for a national CPA firm after graduation. I worked on two audits in Ark. People at those companies still remembered the game and were quick to praise Ramsey to Shanklin as the best QB to receiver combo that they had seen @ Razorback Stadium in years.
  15. The run plays in crucial situations are just a waste of down. If you can only call a run on fourth down just go ahead and punt. At least the opponent has to drive the field to score rather than having a chip shot from the failed run play. We have two tiny RBs who would love to have an 0 line that blocks, but they are just too small to do it by themselves. When does GH finally understand what is sooooo obvious to everyone else in the entire stadium???
  16. Mention of Rick Shaw in this article always rankles me. After his playing days which had no significant contributions to the program. There was an interview with Randy Galloway then of the DMNS in which Shaw was quoted as saying “ North Texas is a nothing school from a nobody league” That’s not the attitude that resonates with alumni who have given time and money to the program. Hopefully the players who now represent UNT have more pride and respect than to ever be associated wit such an obnoxious quote.
  17. I was at UTEP. We woke up at halftime from being overconfident. There we made adjustments and played a different second half. At UAB we were completely out played and out coached in the second half and we knew what was at stake and chose to not respond. Maybe the team remembered the piss poor crowd for So. Miss and thought if others don’t care why should we care
  18. Bowl eligible should not be the bar at this point in the program after so much financial support from fans, admins, and student fees. Much more has been done with so much less. We won’t even have the choice of a bowl not being in the conference championship. It’s not that this has not been a season in which we beat two uncharacteristicly weak teams in SMU & ARK, but we had so much more in our grasp leading handily at halftime and getting the ball to start the second half. We proceed to put up a goose egg on offense and thoroughly quit on defense ( ala the Dodge years).. We continue year after year to lose in big games. La Tech was not due to lack of effort, but second half against UAB was worst football played this year.
  19. Does everyone have that short of a memory? Mason Fine coughs up the ball to lose the New Orleans Bowl when we were just starting to show something. Same thing happens against UAB and he losses the game. In DMNS he says losses hurt, but it is apparent after the first loss the losses come easier. Count on 2 or 3 more this year. Second half reminded me of Dodge era teams. Fine may be setting records, but I saw Steve Ramsey and he is no Steve Ramsey. Season is lost. Let our young QBs and Quinn play. Quinn is at least mobile and a threat to run. Others have height and won't have the ball batted back in their face as Fine often does. In Fine's defense he has played hurt since La Tech, but other teams know this. They blitz because they know he can't run. They force him out of the pocket where he is no threat on the sprint out. True he has heart but that won't help him grow. Time to see what the bigger QB's can do. As of now there is nothing to lose, the season ended last night.
  20. If we play like in the last two games, we won't have to worry about any poaching. We made too many mistakes against La Tech and against UTEP we were just plain awful. I attended both and we were damn lucky to beat UTEP. We were one fourth down dropped pass from a real embarrasement!!!
  21. Just let Wren handle this unlike when Rawlins overrode RV to hire McCarney. Batille told RV to not pay over $250K so what could he do except get HS coaches? I hope that now that the A.D. is a V.P. as well Wren has the ultimate say in all things athletic. If we are going to worry about losing someone it should be Wren !!!
  22. I agree that for the most part Mason is great, but I still can not get out of my mind that opening possesstion of the second half of the NO Bowl when we were much in the game. He is hit from behind and coughs up the ball in our end of the field, and it's pretty much game over from there. He says he turned the wrong way and basically busted the play. That's understandable, but the fumble is not. We fumbled way too much last year, and a lot was slow release or failure to know when to throw it away. FAU both times took advantage of this. We must stop turnovers. SMU will turn every one of these into scores, and soon we will be in too deep a hole to ever climb out by constantly keeping a thin defense on the field. With regard to last year I can respect 4 losees before the bowl game( SMU where Sutton entirely dominated the game and Iowa and FAU(2) where we were clearly outclassed), but Troy was an aberation. They beat us worse than anybody on their schedule other than Coastal Caolina. Their QB had a hot hand and we were w/o Jeffery Wilson, but I still feel we played poorly on both sides of the ball and our game plan was non existant. No way Troy is that much better if at all. We just seemed to be going through the motions with no real desire to win. I suspect the 2 FAU blow outs had a lot to do with destroying any confidence. Just remember that yes 2017 was a nine win season, but we LOST 3 of the last 4 games. I would give 7 and take SMU in the opener if anyone is so inclined at the ticket pick up tommorrow.
  23. You could have substituted the Cowboys D-Line and FAU would have still blown us out. Both contests we were outclassed and beaten unmercifully.
