  1. That FAQ page is useless. Click it and nothing works. \ If anyone wants to hand over their club tickets I'll take them (maybe)
  2. https://meangreennation.com/podcast/196-c-usa-tournament-review-nit-discussion/ Adam and Greg got together and podcasted in the late evening after ESPNU showed us the bracket (a false one!) Anyway, adjust your ear settings to know that we didn't realize NT was going to be a 2 seed until we literally finished the show.
  3. https://meangreennation.com/podcast/195-tournament-preview-2023/ Greg and I got together over pancakes and discussed the tournament, recapped the weekend's wins, talked hoops and more.
  4. https://meangreennation.com/podcast/194-tylor-perry-too-clutch/ Greg and I called each other up and had a converstion. We answered some questions.
  5. https://meangreennation.com/podcast/193-firmly-second-place/ Greg and I got together on super bowl sunday and talked about basketball
  6. I think our HOF can be very forgiving and also *my* personal criteria is like "best player of the era" White, Hamlet, Perry clear that bar very easily. I see no reason to say "if you were the best player at NT during your time? You are in our HOF"
  7. @jtm0097 465 + 500 + 2500 for green level. So roughly $14K for four green-level. ~$8K for White, ~$5K for Silver. These are last year's prices and the ticket rep told me they were finalizing pricing for this year (I suspect it will be higher). I was thinking about four silver-level tickets. I figure I will go to the Cal game plus one more with my family. Maybe one other just me or maybe with one kid. So the rest would be "available" I could be convinced of the green/white level if I can get close to breaking even, and if there is an appreciable difference between silver/green.
  8. I've sat just about everywhere in Apogee. I've always thought the club seats/suites were a little inert for my taste and sensibility but my wife likes the comfortable things in life. I am thinking of getting a few hub club seats for the couple of times we can make it down to Denton. I ask you, venerable message boarders, what the secondary market is for such seats. I don't need to break even but I also 1) don't want them unused 2) don't want to spend $10K for one game ya know?
  9. https://meangreennation.com/podcast/192-rice-revenge-served-cold/ Greg and I got together via the miracle of technology and discussed some hoops stuff.
  10. yeah this is why I don't like looking at total defense or even the S&P+ stuff. Those metrics are useful for some things but not others. NT got sliced up by SMU and UNLV (and later Boise) and that did a lot for their total yardage ranking. They did very well vs WKU, and had a good 2nd quarter vs UAB and a mediocre second half but was absolutely not helped by the offense at all in the final period like @Glory to the Greenwas getting at. The defense got lucky vs UTSA in the October matchup (Harris missed some wide open dudes on some important drives early) but also got an interception, forced some QB hurries and surprised the protections. I asked Frank Harris about that after the championship game. "You looked more prepared, was that something on film or what?" "Well, UNT did a lot of cover 0 pressures and to be honest we weren't ready for that. I was ready for it this time" I thought the pass rush that was there in October lost a little steam (FIU went to a quick pass game, Rice was able to max-protect, and UTSA did a combination of both plus had a better QB with mobility) and that contributed to the results (2 Ws 3 Ls, with that Rice win being ugly). I think the defense could have been helped by a better offensive performance. Three straight games of sub-400 yards for NT after the championship game. Asked about it, Seth said "well we can't expect one phase of the team to do it all. Its a team game." That's true but I mean, come on. The defense was getting worked over in the title game, but they got a stop and NT had a lead. The NT offense just couldn't go score-for-score like they would have needed to. Sure, a better defense would have changed things but I felt like this defense was close to good enough to win a league title.. All things considered, that is not terrible. Next year? Well we at least need to get stops vs the bottom half of the league and the high-powered scorers of the top half will easily put 50 on us if we don't match talent and scheme. I'd like to see one more pass-rusher.
  11. I think they got some guys for the future and maybe one or two is going to get some field time but I don't realistically expect freshman to come in and play and make a different right away. The ones that can and do, are 5-star dudes. Whatever the defense does next year, it really just needs to do the basic things of a defense -- be sound (don't give up big plays because you were not executing your reads, or had bad technique) and be aggressive --> turnovers. Sacks and picks. If you have young guys you just want them playing simple stuff fast and aggressively and hope that makes up for the lack of experience. Seth's defense last year was okay in spots. They uncoincidently looked very good when Logan Wilson was getting picks and Ridge Texada was jumping routes.
  12. https://meangreennation.com/podcast/191-texas-two-step-win/ Greg and I discussed basketball, frisco, and a little football talk.
  13. Greg and I discussed the loss, the late game offense, and did a little previewing of next week's games. https://meangreennation.com/podcast/189-boca-breakdown/
  14. It’s a culture thing. The average North Texas person is not a basketball fan first. I mean when I was a student I lived at Maple and I rounded up like 10 people to go to the game. They had no idea 1) there was a game 2) it was free and 3) where the game would take place. It has always been that way with hoops in Texas.
  15. So Alex Kelly wrote up the game recap -- he grabbed the video https://meangreennation.com/mean-green-escape-the-bulldogs-north-texas-67-louisiana-tech-65/
  16. appending the podcast link here: https://meangreennation.com/podcast/188-mid-south-road-trip/
  17. Cobe Williams is still a baller. He might go off like Dayvion McKnight. Isaiah Crawford is good but recovering from his injury still. Willis is a shooter. I watched two games of theirs today (while in meetings) and they don’t look as crisp as they did with Konkol imho.
  18. aggression and being smart are not mutually exclusive. Silly fouls can come on effort plays, but he was reaching on at least one. I’d rather him keep his hands high and defend without fouling
  19. The league slightly changed the way they did it before -- and I *think* that the ESPN PLUS ones mean they don't post the "melt" on the league-wide media server. I see the highlights for some, but usually those are the stadium ones, or the cbs sports network ones. I asked about it, but no one gave me a straight answer -- mostly because it seems they don't know. I know the staffs of both the league and a lot of teams have changed, so it might just be different now. Middle is good about posting highlights on the league site, but they didn't post one of the NT game. I think that is because it was an ESPN+ one.
  20. That's just earning playing time. They get moments here and there -- Sissoko got time and turned it over, but grabbed one rebound. In a game where it was that tight -- McDevitt called it "semi-final like", you got to make the most of your moments, however small.
  21. He mentioned to me that this was just to get some guys time after having played Thursday. It was exacerbated by the the foul trouble Abou was in. |So it was lineup to match MT, but they also wanted to get fresh legs in there as well.
  22. https://meangreennation.com/comeback-at-murphy-center-north-texas-56-mtsu-51/ Also, we got the podcast coming up today sometime when I get back home.
  23. I asked about the tactics and strategy and they said a lot if it was just playing with more energy. Mac said getting into the game with the rhythm and making small effort plays was the difference. “They won every loose ball early and we started to win those in that end of the first half”
  24. (i realize i possibly come off sounding like a tool but I put it that here in case y’all come by and then I’m not there)
  25. We are staying in Nashville. We'll be there tomorrow Section O Row 17 (and I'll dip down to the media section)
