  1. https://open.substack.com/pub/meangreennation/p/208-ruston-wins-are-hard?r=du4qo&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web @Aldo and I woke up early and podcasted. You can subscribe to it and all that good stuff. A heads up that I won't be taking up space here posting links so like, subscribe. Or like bomani jones says, 'susscribe'
  2. So this kind of thing is a good reminder to spend an hour either booking a photographer /taking a picture/ finding a good picture of yourself to send out if you are going to get on a speaker circuit and the like. I don't know how these things are booked normally but I imagine it is fairly cheap to do like Urban did and make sure you have a good picture for your speaking gigs.
  3. its called being efficient. Its not a rerun if its new to you!
  4. I mean its kind of the same. The AAC is different and its a transitionary year. Like, I don't expect to compete for an AAC title but I hoped to be middle of hte pack this season. That defense looks awful though
  5. yeah a 260 lb linebacker in the big 12. On average, that league was getting a little better calibre of athlete than in CUSA. Exceptions acknowledged, the challenge is the same: find guys that can compete in this league at this level, while being flexible and creative enough to turn the guys you can get into an effective unit.
  6. this three man front is different than the 3-4 schemes that want space eaters. The three stack we have is built to take advantage of quick linebackers and fast safeties. Was any of that on display? Maybe the one time Logan Wilson flew in and stripped the back for a fumble. That was about it. Iowa State doesn’t have monsters up front and did well. It took time, and like any scheme that’s not in Georgia or Alabama, there will be weaknesses.

  8. I don't think anyone expected a NT blowout, but something a little more competitive than 58 points 669 yards allowed, 300+ rushing.
  9. The good news is that Morris said all the right things and seemingly is working on what failed: basically what you want. It is mighty refreshing to hear him get into details --- "tackling", "we'll be in the three-stack", "there were times they had a high safety and still tackled us in light boxes", and other things. Now, winning a press conference is lower in priority than winning on saturdays so that can only fly so far. I'm expecting a win, as we all should be.

  11. Well I was right I thought they would run like hell, but I didnt think we'd be playing touch football while they were playing tackle football. Big miss on my part. Quick reaction: https://open.substack.com/pub/meangreennation/p/quick-postgame-reaction-cal-58-north?utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web
  12. yeah like, I realize the post was Bloesch-heavy and he’s *only* the OL coach but my understanding of the whole thing was that his reputation as run game / OL guy and leading an offense was pretty good. Spavital had that starlet rep but that was tarnished after TX ST and whatnot. So like Spavital comes in but he’s also familiar with what MB did here and wants some of that too, etc. Long story short I don’t think we are all saying anything different. For us, the MB connection is a thing, but for Cal fans they obviously are looking at the OC first.
  13. So Spavital was there already, but Bloesch was brought in for his OL/run game knowledge. So he was brought in for that reason and I *think* Spav wants to incorporate some of what NT was doing last year. I mean NT had a very good offense after all.
  14. Mentioned it here in this post- https://meangreennation.substack.com/p/a-new-era-for-mgn Nothing major just a very busy summer with kids, family, and work. For the site it was about getting a lot of ducks in a row and making some decisions.
  15. I am, in fact, still alive and kicking. https://open.substack.com/pub/meangreennation/p/2023-north-texas-football-season?utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web
  16. A little late as we were juggling flights across this nation and trips across various cities contained therein. I will post the youtube of this and last week's show later so you can see @Aldo in full regalia. https://meangreennation.com/podcast/206-transfers-and-celebrations/
  17. I think it will be CR, but I wouldn't hate Jace
  18. https://meangreennation.com/podcast/205-green-white-game/ @Aldo was awakened from his late sunday evening respite to discuss some Mean Green Football.
  19. https://meangreennation.com/podcast/204-spring-football/ @Aldo talked in the cool evening about football, and remembered some guys
  20. Wrote a sketch of it here in anticipation of a longer post on MGN. Long story short, we need a backup big, another ball handler (preferably two) and another scorer or two. Like, they can be cross roles like Kai being a scorer/shooter/ and ball handler.
  21. Media schedule this week: THURSDAY (4/6) Approx. 9-9:30 am – Open Practice Window (Lovelace and McNatt Families Practice Facility) Approx. 10:45 am – Head coach Eric Morris and selected players available to speak to the media(Lovelace and McNatt Families Practice Facility)
  22. https://meangreennation.com/podcast/203-basketball/ Greg and I discussed the new coach (at the time presumed to be the new coach, it became official later) and also some possible roster moves
  23. It gives anyone in Denton a little more reason to hate their neighbor. “You made Mac leave with your staying home to watch The Masked Singer. Now I will let Max poop your yard”
