WRs aren’t beating anyone or getting open. Other team defenses are letting the really short routes go open because they know NT has no one athletic enough to make a play after the catch.

I hear you! I think our WR Corp is above average but it's just not the same as last year. Come to think of it, Rico was having trouble getting open this year too against teams not named ACU.

  2. This is going to be unpopular but here goes. I brought a guy to the game last night who played OL at OSU under Holgorson. I asked him to give me some X's and O's insight so I can learn more about the game since he not only played but coached at a high level.

He was incredulous how poorly coached the OL was. He said very matter of factly our OL is terrible. He was complimentary of Fine, the WR's, and the RB's. He didn't think much of Bodie Reader's play calling either and thought he adjusted too late.

Sorry but there is no guarantee with the high school recruits.  If anything we have learned through UAB, USU and now SMU its that to be an elite G5 you must embrace and win the transfer game.  We recruited a juco defensive end that didn't have grades.  SMU pulled in 17 top notch transfers and many of them were on the field including the DB transfer from UCLA who TOOK OUT our top WR and of course the QB Buchele who was just outstanding.  WE MUST EMBRACE THE TRANSFER GAME.  Ignoring it will not work.

    Spot on.

  4. Here’s the inconvenient truth. We lucked out on a few diamonds in the rough on otherwise very #OldDenton recruiting classes since SL has been here. Two solid JUCO’s are now residing in the NFL. We’ve only had one good recruiting class and they are true freshmen.

I’m in the camp that thinks SL has done a magnificent job with what he’s had to work with. It’s going to take two more years at CURRENT recruiting performance before this thing is truly competitive. I give SL full credit for making adjustments in the recruiting game  instead of literally crying about it like those who shall not be named here did.

He was not.  Hard to prove he did anything considering he was only holding the camera. I don't know if anyone else got into legal trouble for it.

Do you know how Oklahoma defines animal cruelty? Because if they were using this as a method to teach the dogs to hunt together, this type of activity may be permitted.  I don't have any knowledge of hunting with dogs so I could be wrong, but this seems like it could be a potential method for teaching dogs to hunt.

    It's just a raccoon.

"You can be charged with a felony in Oklahoma if you intentionally or maliciously:

    • torture, mutilate, or kill an animal
    • beat or injure an animal cruelly, or
    • deprive an animal of needed food, water, shelter, or veterinary care to prevent suffering.

It’s also a felony to allow, instigate, or promote animal cruelty. (Okla. Rev. Stat., tit. 21, § 1685.)

Despite the animal cruelty law, farmers and ranchers are legally allowed to kill certain animals that injure or chase their livestock. (Okla. Rev. Stat., tit. 4, § 41.)"

I'm pretty sure they teach coonhounds with the scent of racoon pelts or commercially made racoon scent sticks and not live raccoons. I'm not 100% sure about that.  Yes, apparently people used to actively seek their fur and meat!

Believe this happened in Oklahoma. However, Oklahoma has no state law against such activity.  I also believe that Kari simply filmed the activity of others.  While I question why he was even there in the first place, the hit piece by this opinion writer is ridiculous!

Uh yeah, Oklahoma does have a law against animal cruelty whether the animal is wild or domesticated. It’s a felony punishable up to $5000 and 7 years in prison. The raccoon still thinks it’s not a hit piece.

Now that they are closing down NY Sub 😥 anyone have suggestions for a good sandwich place for pre and or post game?   My fallback stop would probably be Rudy's most of the time, but in the case you aren't wanting barbeque and would prefer cold cuts or something different.  Please no Subway and preferably closer to UNT versus by TWU (too far).

Did you sour on Tony’s balls?

I assume you think that ACU is going to be close to the draw of La Tech, SMU and Rice.  You also are ignoring the fact that the actual attendance for the ODU and FAU were nowhere near the announced totals.

I have been following NT football for a long long time and for most home games I've been disappointed in the attendance.  So yes, I will be happy with an opening attendance against a lower division team is 20k or more.

I will be at the game, rain, heat or snow as long as I35 is not closed.  I would be happy to be in the company of 30k or more other fans,.

You are going to be very happy - as long as there is no rain in the forecast.  If the forecast holds up you will see 25K plus.

Opening at home draws well. Playing a Texas team draws well. Playing a team 2 1/2 hours away draws well. ACU travels to Denton in good numbers. All of the hype around this team will draw well. A 6:30 start draws well.
