  1. I am already going to be down there working. I schedule it that way. Cheri would like to get a round trip ride, and will fund the gas tank. Let me know if anyone has some room. Thanks
  2. Wow, you guys are the best. I mean that. I just want you all to know that we hope to see you all very soon. I am going to try and get Cheri to come out just to see you all and say hello.
  3. Harry, you have always been very kind to us, and you know we think the world of you. But the timing was really bad on this, and our hearts would not be in it. We have the tickets, and maybe something could happen to change our feelings. Our hope was that this program would one day rival any in the country.
  4. Thank you for your prayers, and I hope your mom is doing okay. We are seeing an attorney tomorrow, and the EEOC will be notified shortly thereafter. As much as I hate to think about it, we are considering of contacting the local media also.
  5. Thanks for your support. We love you guys, and are going to miss seeing you all. Some of our fondest memories are hanging out at the games.
  6. Thank you sir. Prayers are very appreciated right now. Cheri had surgery yesterday, and hopefully they got it. It runs in her family, and there may be more.
  7. To all the fans we have come to know and love over the years, I want you all to know that we may not be coming to any more games...ever. Some things have occurred over the last two weeks that make me very disappointed with my alma mater. As some of you know, Cheri was employed with the university early this year. By all accounts, she was doing a great job and was told this several times. However, two weeks before her probationary period was to be done, Cheri was diagnosed with cancer. Three days later, she was terminated. No warning, no explanation, nothing. I notified Dr. Batille, but only received a response from her aide. Here is what I wrote: I am a graduate of UNT, and I like to think that I am proud of my university. We give money to the athletic department every year, and are avid Mean Green fans. However, something happened today that absolutely stunned me. After a round of layoffs at Overhead door last December, my wife was hired at the university, beginning work for the college of Psychology shortly thereafter. We both were delighted that she got the position, and were very thankful that she could work close to home for once. By all accounts, she was lead to believe that she was doing well and everyone benefitted from the work she was doing. She was told personally by several of the faculty there that they were glad they finally had someone who did the job well. She received a very favorable review just a month or so ago, and was looking forward to a long stay. She is a very hard working dependable employee. She always has been. However, after receiving staggering news last week that she was diagnosed with cancer, she was told this afternoon that she was no longer needed. The reason given was that she was not getting along with "some people" there, and she had the option of signing a letter of resignation, or at the risk of never being employed by the state again, forcing them to fire her. Needless to say, she is devastated. There was no warning. This was completely out of the blue, and very unprofessional. I don't know for certain if it was a coincidence, but this is no way to treat someone. I hope to hear back from you soon. Any help in the matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Jon Clark Since they have dodged the issue, I am seeking redress from outside the system. We just got our season tickets in the mail, and have no idea what we are going to do with them. Neither one of us feels like rooting for the home team. I just wanted to vent.
  8. Happy New Year Deb. We missed seeing you this year at the games. Hope you are doing well!
  9. Congrats to you both. We love ya, and are glad mom and baby are fine. you need to cut down on the gogo juice now, right?
  10. ONE POWERHOUSE OF A CORPULENT AMERICAN!!!!! Yes folks, you will be amazed at the football prowess of a man who is not only overaged, but overweight as well. Even though I have scored touchdowns in three of the previous bowl games, I now get truly winded just tying my shoes. The first amazing feat of endurance for me will consist of making it from my car to the field. So I suggest you get your seats early, because this does not be happen every day. Once on the field, I should be able to block well due to the fact that it will take at least twenty seconds just to go around me. Also, the football should naturally be attracted to my hands due to sheer gravitational pull. This, of course will be an unfair advantage on my part. This is why it is imperative that I even the playing field (so to speak), so I will only be physically able to run five yards before being in desperate need of an oxygen mask. I also vow to only hork on non-playing areas. My arteries are clogging with excitement at the thought of this game!
  11. Have you SEEN a game this year? Every loss is a TEAM loss, but due to the absolutely TERRIBLE defensive coaching, the problem has been a tad bit exacerbated. Regardless of the weather situation (both teams played on the same field), Mendoza flat out never adjusts. I really hate to see such promise on offense be completely overshadowed by the complete incompetence of the defensive sets over the course of a ballgame. If you had told me that the defense would get this bad in one year, with EIGHT of the same guys we had last year, I would have said you were nuts. Mendoza is TERRIBLE.
  12. We all talked and hung out with Mrs. Dodge last night and she made it plain that Riley is looking forward to coming here. Am I missing something?
  13. I have absolutely NO doubt in my mind that UNT will get better with Dodge at the helm. However, I think that it is becoming clear that if that is ever coming to fruition certain "changes" will have to be made. But Todd Dodge is a winner, has been a proven winner elsewhere, and will be a winner here.
  14. I'm even having all of the family in this week and the only time to clean the house is tomorrow, but we will be there. Unless Cheri says otherwise.
  15. I just got back into town from Jonesboro, and I didn't really want to post right after the game. You are all correct in saying that the defense played better last night. However, there are three things that I have seen ALL YEAR that really make me nauseus about the coaching on that side of the ball. First, on every passing play our conerbacks play ten yards off of the receiver. I know we play our safeties shallow, but EVERY TIME? Mix it up once in a while. Secondly, if we EVER bring more than the four down lineman on any kind of stunt package I think I would faint dead away. There was only occasional heat on the QB last night because of coverage. Third, whatever coach who invented prevent defense ought to be blotted out of the pages of football forever. As soon as I saw the eight deep coverage, I knew they would take it right down the field, even with no timeouts. Face it, it would have been much worse had they caught at least seven passes that hit them right in the hands. Even the most inexperienced coaches make adjustments once the original game plan has been found out. Why, oh why, don't we?
  16. How about having them wear Apu on their hats or a big red dot. The only Indians that ever existed are from the large country south of the Himalayas. Other viable alternatives that would make true sense would be the Washington Dullards, and the Cleveland Armpits.
  17. Cowardly? Cowardly would have been to not say anything at all about a tasteless act by frustrated person. I know how EASY it is to mouth off to someone face to face. You get in the heat of the moment and say things you probably shouldn't. I've unfortunately done it far too many times. But not saying anything about it at all would serve no purpose other than to make the aggressor think he did the right thing. What action do you think Rick should have taken? Punch him out? This isn't third grade. If I didn't know Rick at all, I might be tempted to make a ridiculous remark like that also.
  18. I don't know the person in question, but I do know Rick. Someone who would do that to him should truly be ashamed of himself. I also feel that some of the comments on this thread have been some of the best I have ever read here. I am truly inspired by the amount of class here.
  19. We are looking forward to going. This is the one place that ALL MG fans should experience at least once. It is truly a great little college town. I am just glad the company fills the bill now. See you there...
  20. I think he has a been looking forward to taking it out on the first team that came along, since the BSU game.
  21. Hey brother, we just gotta find the (any) positive in this turd of a showing. Knowwhatamean?
