  1. The punt that pinned us inside our 5 yard line was luck, pure and simple. The punter was attempting to fake the punt and run. He got a lucky kick off on a dead run to his right. No coach would have been happy to see a player around that ball. 95 times out of 100 that ball goes into the end zone. The punt return made the correct decision it was simply a bad luck situation.
  2. "CLICK" is kilometer.....GO MEAN GREEN
  3. I am no coach and the following comments may make that obvious. I see much the same offense being run by Texas Tech and Tulsa without the use of tight ends. I see other teams running the same type offense. Missouri thought enough of the high school coach that they came to him to help them fine tune their offense. It is a proven offense with other schools, we just have to wait and let in proove itself to us. We have linemen that were brought in to play in an offense based on the run. They are slow but they are doing their best with the tools they have been given. We are playing several red shirt freshmen that will grow into what Coach Dodge wants. We will have better talent but it will take time. We all knew it would take time but we have to have patience. It will happen.
  4. Sitting behind me in my section, Section F, is a university teacher/professor. When it came time to sing the alma mater her friend said, "Do you know the words to Glory to the Green"? She replied, "No, but I guess I should. They have been giving me a check for the past 15 years." This same person spent her time looking for "that poor hawk that must be in distress" everytime the EAGLE sound effect was played. These "fans" left at halftime. Education for many students starts with how much pride is shown in the classroom.
  5. I too sit in section F and on row 29. On third down and short or trying to hold FAU on third down, I found myself being the only one standing orher than one couple at the end of my row. I may be forced to continue offending some folks by standing and cheering. By the way, some female professor sitting behind me was asked by her guest if she knew the words to the alma mater. Her reply, "I suppose I should learn it. I have working here for 15 years." DISGUSTING!!
  6. Enough is enough! For two days I have read the analysis of the game from "experts" on this board. Now it is time for this NONexpert to state my opinion. If you watched the pregame warmups, you could have seen that OU had more speed than UNT has had in the past 8 years combined. While UNT had one or two players that could run, everyoneof the OU receivers and backs are "track star" fast. Our coaches can teach many things but speed is one thing that players are born with. Our offensive line did an admirable job for the first quarter. After that, the heat and the size of the OU Defense began to wear us down. Meager did fine. He was calling signals against what may prove to be the best defense in the NCAA. He was scrambling bacause the pocket was falling in around his ears. He threw several balls that were dropped and threaded the needle on several others. (The OU fans around me liked his moxy and said nice things about him.) Vizza did well but he made some freshman mistakes. He forced a couple of passes and those passes turned into scores for OU. He will be fine but he must be fed slowly. As far as Defense, yes we gave up 79 points but 21 of those points can be directly attributed to offensive mistakes and not laid at the feet of the defensive coordinator. Our largest D-Lineman was outweighed by 100 pounds. One of our D-Backs was listed at 5'-10" but still gave away 8 inches and almost 100 lbs. to a tight end that runs 4.5. Come on, what could we do to stop that? Give the coaches and players a break, we lost to one of the best teams in the nation. Now, one last thing. Was it necessary for OU to call a timeout with one minute left in the first half so they could throw one more touchdown pass? Was it necessary to blitz a freshman quarterback in the fourth quarter when the score is 77-0? Thanks for reading my rant. Now lets BEAT SMU!!
  7. I will get to Norman about noon but wont get to the stadium till about 4PM. I will be sitting in the middle of the OU section with a friend that is an OU season ticket holder. I should be easy to spot since I will be wearing my MEAN GREEN.
  8. I was there. I was not admitted and I didnt get mad. Coach Dodge had warned that not all practices would be open to veiw and this just happened to be one of them. I stood in the back of a pickup and watch over the fence. (With some of the distances from the field at Fouts, I was closer than some that were in the stands.) A parent that was allowed to go inside asked me if I was angry that I couldnt go inside. I told him "No, I am glad we atr least think we have something going onto the field that we dont want anyone else to see." After all, they have already seen our draw plays.
  9. The best high school back I ever saw was Paul Rice when he played for Lewisville High in the early seventies. He was recruited by every big college in the country. Unfortunately, he pissed all of his chances away with poor behevior. He was kicked out of USC, Ranger Jr. College, SMU and TCU and still was signed as a free agent by the Philadelphia Eagles. He was one of the last players cut. All that talent and no common sense.
  10. Siamese twins? Is that one scholarship or two?
  11. The his game is very big. Navy almost always gets mention/coverage on ESPN. It would be yet one more opportunity to grab national attention. We have to "represent" well in this game.
  12. I am also in agreement with Emmit. I cannot add and extra car payment. I need the extra months if I am signing a pledge..
  13. Add me to the inclusion list also. You guys are the "bestest"
  14. Please God, Forgive him. He was only kidding. You were kidding, right Emitt?
  15. I am a class of 73 graduate with a degree in Speech Therapy and Audiology. I have been selling ribbon for the last 20 years. Go figure?
  16. As a member of the Green Brigade, class of 73, this is music to my old ears. The best is yet to come.
  17. I will probably be there again. You cooked a mean burger. What shall I bring? Dwight
  18. I dont know if anyone else heard this last night but following the game one of the camera shots showed Riley talking with one of the Austin Westlake players, I believe he was their fullback. As they said their congrats and small talked, the Westlake player said, "You are going to SMU and Rice, right?" I am not positive of exactly what Riley said but I believe he said, "Yes, I will see you there." Looks like visits are planned outside of the protective arms of dad and UNT. We will have competition.
  19. I would like to see something different for our shirts. SLC has been using the "Dodge Ball" shirts for a couple of years. I would hate to use the exact same theme. Just my opinion and will go with the majority.
  20. If you dont mind a newby, count me in. I would like to meet you. Let me know what to bring. Ntexeagle@aol.com
