NIL can't be disregarded when speaking of recruiting. NIL is recruiting.

I am not disregarding it, I'm suggesting we suck at recruiting, with or without NIL.  NIL and the transfer rules are just making the entire process around us, in and outside Denton, move faster.

I don't really care if this is statistically the worse offseason ever.  I still handle emotionally it the same as any other bad offseason, which have been plenty around here.  I'll still be around, watching and rooting for the Mean Green next year.

  2. Gonna be honest: what's killing my Mean Green vibe is not actually NIL, it's all the Mean Green fans griping about NIL.

I know we all have our reasons, but for me and my fandom, I'm pretty good as long as someone is representing Mean Green in college sports.  I like following the players and feel a certain level of attachment to them, but obviously not nearly as much attachment as some of you all do.

PS: maybe I'll be joining y'all done day! Just not there yet.

We got Tylor Perry from a junior college. That is a lower level. Did his college basketball career even continue when he left here?

I'm an idiot sometimes, and this was one of those times.  I think throwing TP in the middle of a Sonny Dykes Texas Tech football quote in which you're clearly not quoting - only paraphrasing - threw me off ab it.

Dang... after 7 years of success you'd think the company we keep on lists like this wouldn't look like THIS. Embarrassing.

Not a perfect parallel, but I’m reminded of the Dickey era and how he didn’t capitalize on the Sun Belt titles like we hoped for.

whats the deal? Is our brand - bball, fb, whatever - still suffering on the recruiting trails? Are we still looked down upon by hs coaches?

Not questioning our ability to count seats. I’ve just been around enough construction projects in my career to realize sometimes things just get messed up. I remember there being some club seats they said were on the drawings that ended up just not being there when DATCU opened despite being on all the drawings. There’s a reason home inspectors find things missing or installed incorrectly in new home builds.

Yeah, I was just having some fun.

Obviously things happen, but it's usually due to some miscommunication or disconnect between parties involved.  Not that we cannot accurately count/estimate this sort of thing.

I'm sure they know how many seats are supposed to be installed, but with construction/renovation you just never know until it's done. Since they're re-seating the area, it makes sense to me to wait until they're installed and you can see and touch them to make sure. Could you imagine if they ran into something unexpected and a row is short a seat yet they already assigned seats for that row?

We can build mirrors in outer space that can point a ray of light at a dime located on the Empire State Building.

We can calculate the path of a total solar eclipse, referencing the path of two objects that are 240,000 miles away and 99 million miles away respectively, and pinpoint that exact time in 2044 - 20 years out - to the month and day.

But here is someone that questions our ability to accurate count seats in a football stadium.

I want a coach that is telling his guys to invest in our program and make it great and not to use us as a stepping stone.

Most of them were recruited to fit McCasland's system.  What if Hodge has a different vision for our system? Do you change the system to accommodate this loyalty/investment, or do you take advantage of the portal to put yourself in a winning position...sooner?

If you were the coach you would be looking to move too when a better opportunity arose. Everybody in the NCAA is looking out for number one.

"Coaches are gonna jump at the chance, too" is the number one response I read/hear when talking about student-athletes' lack of commitment.

I don't see anyone going "damn, you're right.  everything is financially equal now."  It's like you keep throwing this hammer down, and you're hitting the wrong nail.

Why is it not convincing anyone?  Do people not want this to be about equal financial opportunity?

I think a statement or interview of Moseley or Hodge is needed.

My Mean Green Koolaid tells me that Hodge let these guys walk without a fight, that he has bigger plans and last season's roster was not ideal for him and his Mean Green vision.

I honestly don't want to hear him say that publicly, though.  It would be bad press.  What I need, though, is for him to prove it.

  10. I had zero issue suiting up a guy who never played for UNT.  I have zero issue suiting TP and Co again if they want to represent us.

What takes priority here, your high horse or building UNT's brand?

Get guys who want to help us win.

  11. Can we take a freaking break from the ass-whipping that is "....would like a word with you" response?

It's not only overplayed, 99% of the time, it's hung on a thought that isn't well thought out and/or lazy.
