Sucks that you complain about not being able to attend and you could do something about it (i.e. Half-day, work later, etc) but yet you blast the AD office when you have no idea the reasoning for the time... apparently you would have it another way if it meant you could attend these events..

I said crying because coming on here, and complaining isn't going to do a damn thing to change it.. again email WB and tell him, hell get multiple other people in this thread that are upset about it as well to email him.

Crying and complaining? I made a statement that noon isn't a good time. Now you are just being a dick.

Sucks for you then, but again if you can't make it email WB and tell him and everyone else who would like to see a change..

Crying on GMG.com isn't going to help... make a thread, and multiple people get together and work on ideas and send it to him. WB is very open to trying new things to get more people involved.. I've talked to the man multiple times in the office and via email.

You're in the wrong career if you gotta bring a doctors note with you to work...

I stated noon on a work week was a bad time and I am crying about it? I hope you are in the theater because you would make a great drama queen. Also, sucks to have a fulfilling, challenging, and busy career? Thanks but wouldn't have it any other way.

Don't get it... If things like this are so important then why not take a half day or take a long lunch????

Because my career is much more important. Plus, some people are extremely busy between deadlines and seemingly constant meetings every day.

Here's another example. I live in Addison and work in Irving. There's no way in hell your normal working person that doesn't work within a 15 minute radius of Apogee is gonna make it to this.

I mean, seriously? What is our fanbase in DFW? Like 300k? You want people to show up? Stop holding events in the middle of the week during 8-5 working hours. It's like they don't give a damn that it's the same 15 people that show up every time.

With the Mean Green Mania day, it was much easier to make it during part of the day. This however makes absolutely no sense. Maybe they are working around their schedules?

Didn't mean to derail the thread.  I find beer prices at any sporting event ridiculous including many eating establishments.  In the long run, it really doesn't make that big of a difference to me as I just don't drink that much at sporting events any more.  For those that don't care and want to drop $6 for a beer, have at it.

Just curious, how do you feel about dropping big bucks on food and other type beverages at sporting events? I think it's ridiculous to spend $5 on some broken chips and yellow/orangish cheese like substance they call nachos.

It all comes down to hiring coaches that can be highly competitive at our level.  All the little stuff combined helps lure those coaches to Denton.  At the P5 levels you're fired if you don't win immediately.  At the G5 levels you're stolen/hired away if you do.  It's a constant churn.  An AD either needs one hell of a great support network to help identify talent, or he/she needs to be a great evaluator of coaches.  Then they've got to be able to land those coaches once they are identified, and that's where all the other stuff (administrative & donor $$ support, facilities, etc) comes in.

I'd be happy with UNT to just have the sustained success of a LaTech for a while.  They have a lot of things that would be easy to use as excuses---somewhat crappy facilities (relative to peers), not the most money, lousy location, ugly co-eds (kidding), etc....but they just keep on chugging along.  It's rare when they aren't in the top quarter or competing for their conference crown.  I also can't ever remember a year when I wouldn't have traded straight up for their HFC and staff since I started at UNT in '96.  If UNT had spent the past 20 years doing what LaTech has, I believe that we'd already be in a higher level conference.  Our location, alumni base, and TV market wouldn't have held us back as it has LaTech.

It makes me want to vomit in my mouth to compare North Texas to LA Tech in any form or fashion.

yes, but your disclaimers are not used when talking about Jamario, Cobbs, Kennedy, Hall, Andrew Smith, Buckels, etc....It's ONLY used when talking about Dickey.

Not sure whose disclaimers you are talking about. I have never claimed any of the 3 mentioned players were great or not.  Only claimed it was my opinion that Dickey only won because we were in such a weak conference, nothing more and nothing less.

And yet only one team did.

I am constantly amused by the posts of "Brandon Kennedy was a beast" or "Jamario was amazing to watch" or "Scott Hall was a gamer" in one thread...and then the same people quickly turn to "the Sun Belt was the worst league ever" when talking about Dickey.

Which was it?  Were these players amazing, or were they the recipients of playing the Denton High JV every week?  Can't have it both ways.

Yes, you can have it both ways. Jamario was fun to watch in the weakest league ever. Scott Hall was a gamer in the weakest league ever. Brandon Kennedy was a beast in the weakest league ever. Not a hard concept to grasp.

    You sure about this?

Yes, they might not admit it but they know it. The thing to realize is this message board will never influence a decision by a coach, AD, President, nobody.. The constant bitching and moaning has absolutely no affect on anything, whatsoever. Instead of the constantly bitching here, log off and go to the gym or do something else constructive.

    I wouldn't call that a rant.

But as each guy commits to other schools, many times the same handful of schools, we drop further and further down the totem pole for this class and for seasons to come. Recruiting is many times based off of momentum. When X kid commits, Y & Z sees that and commits shortly thereafter. This class is not by any means lost, but we need a momentous commit or two to get the snowball rolling. If that kind of splash commit(s) doesn't happen, bet your house on another 115+ ranked recruiting class.

Yes Ben, we all get that. You know it, I know it, everybody on this board knows it. Beating it into every single recruiting post, over and over, accomplishs absolutely nothing.

It's just about 100% official. This staff couldn't recruit themselves out of a wet paper bag. We are dropping literally every player that has either a SMU, La Tech, UH, Tulsa, UTSA, etc. offer.

I don't know how SL is getting sleep at night. If this class doesn't drastically improve, you might as well put a timer on his job status at UNT.

Really? We never knew how you felt about recruiting. A few thousand more rants on a fan message board just might fix the problem.

Never miss a chance at passive/aggressive shots, do you? Maybe you wanna bring up my past relationships again for messageboards points, eh sport?

Good thing you never have to worry about ever learning one personal detail about me again, eh?

And to Grand, any organization that blames failure on mid to low management for self preservation is doomed to failure. Early returns on Baker skew to this conclusion. Hope I'm wrong, but it looks like the same old UNT.

Nothing passive/aggressive about his statement, it was a direct shot. Based on your response, it was a bullseye. Good job Kram, you melted a snowflake today.

Which is exactly what @BillySee58 was doing. And just because the 'rhetoric' doesn't sway in our favor, doesn't mean it's not accurate. We can point out the facts. It's up to you if you want to see them or not.

@GMG24 pointed out that there are roughly 1,000 OG's in the state of Texas. But that means nothing due to the fact that less than 4% of them will be playing FBS college football in 1 years time.

Lists like this are a summer staple on GMG. It's a staple because it's what we choose to hang our hat on because we have nothing else to shine a positive light on.

we have you as alum that we can all be proud of and hang our hat on knowing you.

I wouldn't know, but if I accused someone in their late 30s of being a millenial to rationalize myself as death slowly moved into position, I'd not feel better about it. Now please focus on fighting @Ben Gooding before a hip or knee gives out. We're on the same team!

You and I are not on the same team, as much as you would like that. Plus, you think highly of yourself if you think my post was aimed at you, it wasn't.
