I never thought Houston was anywhere as good as Connecticut. UConn might be beaten, but it'd be the biggest upset in at least 20 years if they don't win it all.

Our attendance was up like 9% this season.

Sure, we did.
For that matter, so did LSU. LOL

And for UNT basketball, March hasn't happened in almost a decade.
Even if you mean the NCAA Tournament, we beat Purdue back in 2021. Three years isn't even close to a decade.

No, we won the first round.

I sorta feel bad for Houston given the injury. However, Tennessee was missing one of their best players tonight and still beat a Creighton team that I expected to beat a fully healthy UT squad.

Some great games in the Sweet 16. Connecticut looks basically unbeatable though.

The Midwest was total chalk. The East more or less was.
The South and West -- not so much.

I'm not gonna rip the hire because he is a good coach. But he's gonna be at SMU in the basketball crazy ACC. I'll just say UNC and Duke are not scared of the Mustangs.

This is not the fans fault. This is the NCAA and the coaches being greedy.
It's not the NCAA per se. They can't control the big guys - they consistently lose in court when the Big 10 or whoever challenges them. Even a few weeks ago the SEC commissioner made a veiled threat about not letting in so many auto bids from smaller conferences so the big boys can get practically their whole leagues in the postseason. That's what I'm starting to worry about.

He only stayed because they didn't actually offer him the job!

I know you love The Office Andrew. Just think of players as Dwight Schrute and you'll be happy.
Would I ever leave this company? Look, I'm all about loyalty. In fact, I feel like part of what I'm being paid for here is my loyalty. But if there were somewhere else that valued loyalty more highly, I'm going wherever they value loyalty the most.

SMU is not a step up from USC - lol.

Maybe we should all appreciate the years Ruben and Aaron have stayed here even more!
Can we at least spell Rubin's name right?

I think we've been overall fairly reasoned. Maybe there's a bit of a jilted lover syndrome going on, but that's gonna happen at any program. You don't think when Caleb Love left UNC he wasn't ripped on Tar Heel messageboards, because I assure you he was.

The best thing about having Hodge as a coach was he came from JUCO where they often have massive turnover year to year, which has now become the norm in DI too. I'm sure he was at least partially ready for this scenario.

I mean...we went 1-1 against SMU, so its not like we didn't beat them.

Plenty of the NIT semis and finals I watched on TV weren't exactly highly attended. Traveling to NYC (unless you're in the north east corridor) on short notice in the middle of the week isn't easy or cheap. When you had a school like St. Johns, or Penn State - the Garden would be rocking. Not so much when it was Stanford vs Miami.
-
Indianapolis and Hinkle is a much better location for the NIT than Las Vegas' Orleans Arena IMHO though. It's a historic venue and that is total basketball country. Only the fact that Indy is so often in the rotation to have the Final Four would prevent it from moving there on a more permanent basis.

As long as Kennedy is at UAB, they will continue to be a thorn, and it doesn't look like Charlotte is going anywhere. Does Memphis do anything over the offseason?
It's nice to have a team that's always contending. We actually have to think about what the other contenders are doing to keep up/be better!UAB is an equal, but they don't scare me the way FAU did. I always thought the Owls were just flat better than us. I don't have that feeling about anyone else.

Where do we go from here? One way ticket to the AAC champs.
May out at FAU? USF was great this season, but I need another year before I'm convinced. No one else scares me.

We played with them for basically a half, but once they got the lead up to 13 -15, it felt like we were mentally broken. Still, even if it wasn't the season we'd hoped for, I still give us a B. On to October!

SHU 70 -------- NT 46
4:24 to go
Not that we probably would have won anyway, but we never seemed to have recovered from the massive run right before halftime. If not for that.....maybe?
