  1. I'm with ya Harry. I cant see why an OOC game would even be considerred now that there are other more pressing matters. There are still missing people in New Orleans, and that should be a priority. A Season-opener at MTSU would be just fine in my book.... GMG!!!
  2. Steve Ramsey's head and drive, Matt Turney's skill and mean streak, and Don McGee's playmaking ability= FRED GARVIN...MALE Prostitute!!! Sorry, just jumped out.... GMg!!!
  3. Great pic!!! I'm just not so sure...uh?, about the outcome......uh? What the hell...who says we cant play with those guys? I think we hold them scoreless until at least the first quarter!!! (predictions aside.. I really like our defense..just a little over-matched in BR) GMG!!
  4. HAHAHA....great topic!! With the 5th pick, Medpilot selects Defensive Tackle-Isaac Thomas, #91. "Thomas, a player with size and speed, has been a play-maker his entire career. After a stellar high school campaign as an All-conference Tackle and wrestler, Isacc Thomas enterred the Astronaut training program at NASA. His etremely high intelligence rating, along with his ability to make quick decisions, put him at the top of his class. Thomas was contacted in week six of his program by the University of North Texas Head Football Coach, Darrell Dickey. After three days of heavy considerration, Thomas accepted a scholarship offer from the Mean Green to play football. Thomas packed up his belongings and sethis mind for a career in Denton Texas. His statement to his peers as he was leaving Houston was quick, and to the point... "I regret having to leave such a fine bunch of people, but North Texas needs me...and I may get to crush a quarterback in New Orleans. I cant see topping that here...Goodbye." GMG!!!
  5. ["While the university needs a leader who will buy into the goals that are already set for the university, Jackson said, the new president must be someone who has his or her own ideas to help UNT reach those goals."]...Lee Jackson If that is true, then the next president wont be here long. The ONE thing Lee Jackson has made clear to the North Texas students and Alums, is that there is no way but his way, and he is not explaining himself to ANYONE. How is the new President going to introduce his own ideas when LJ wont consider them? I dont know for sure why Dr. Pohl resigned, but I see Lee Jackson's finger prints all over the turpentine-filled dart that hit him. Lee Jackson is a hypocrite...and that is a very difficult trait to hide. I sincerely hope the next president is half as good as the one we are losing. If not, then at least be tough enough to stand up to the stupidity that seems to roll out of LJ's office. If he or she can do that, we want them. They will do what is right. Of course, we will be looking for a new president shortly afterwards.... GMG!!!
  6. I was rolling on the floor laughing!!!! The hot-dog bit is greatness. Lifer, that rocked. I really needed that...hahaha GMG!!!
  7. Great pics Erin, we had a great time out there today. Thanks to everybody out there serving those guys. It was hot, but we had a lot of fun. (I got to rib Isaac Thomas and T.J. Raymond a liitle in line) We have a very good bunch of players and coaches.. Makes you feel good about what we have going at North Texas!!! GMG!!!
  8. It was a great time serving those guys today. Some players I knew, had to ask for a few names. The weather was great...hot, but great. 15 gallons of Ice Tea went quick? (and so did about 20 loafs of bread?) Thanks again to FFR and Adler for geting the ball rolling on this one. It was a good time and the brisket was great!!! GMG!!!
  9. I'm there.. Dropping some Ice Tea at the BBQ area first, then heading over. See you guys there. GMG!!!
  10. Break out offensive player: Brock Stickler (This kid has "First-Down" written all over him) Break out defensive player: Brandon Monroe(LB) Surprise player(s) offense: Korona Henderson (FB)/ Roy Covington (WR) Surprise player(s) defense: Kartey Agbottah (FS)/ Isaac Thomas (DT) There is more talent (by position) on this team than we have had in a long time. Bring on the MUTS!!! (I know, LSU is first on the docket... not going down that road again) GMG!!!
  11. That's bad news.. Early is a big time player for us. At least we have the guys ready to step in. Graves is a hitter, and Thompson would play there if we needed him to. We also have a speedster coming in with Toby Nwigwe, so I'm not too worried. Think about how fast our linebackers are? Monroe on the outside, Mendoza or Thompson in the middle, and Graves or Nwigwe on the other edge? Let's see if MTSU can figure out a way to get around them... Oh, and then there's that little running back problem the MUTS defense will face. Great time to be a Mean Green Fan... GMG!!!
  12. Not sure about the midfield logo, but we were out there yesterday and the field looks great! Much draker green, and the yardline stripes are more defined. Quite impressive to see in person.. GMG!!!
  13. After the Corey Stringer thing a few years ago, everyone is really being careful. Cody will be fine. It's that offense I'm worried about? Having to face Brad Kassell and Cody Spencer everyday in practice? Too much Mean Green on that field for the likes of Steve McNair...I can tell you that. If they had signed Brandon Kennedy instead of Detroit?...I would have to buy a Titan's Jersey and scream "Throw the ball, Dickey!!!" at the TV each sunday. Close one, Dude... GMG!!!
  14. Bishop is the one we will really miss. I said last year I would have converted him to linebacker. He's big enough and can really move. I dont think Lee Clay ever got over being "posterized" in that practice last year by Joey Byerly. Best wishes to all of them. Say Hi to Michael Ruff for us.... GMG!!!
  15. Harry touched on the real question... who plays the safety spots? I still think Cotton is good enough to handle the FS gig, but Agbottah has serious talent too. I know I'll take a hit on this one, but I would also try Colt Mahan at SS. I know he is listed at LB, but the guy can fly and hits like a freight train... I would also (here comes the left hook from you guys) try Jonathan Ieans at Safety. He's 6-5 and has speed. Why not gamble a little and just see if he can do it? I suspect he wont be in the top three at QB, and he is, at best, sixth on the receiver depth chart. (Quinn, Muzzy, Nwigwe, Jackson, R. Covington) We need to find a way to get this guy on the field and use his size and speed? Regardless of who plays out there, DD will get the right person for each spot. After four conference titles, I think we can assume he knows what a safety looks like. I think this was the longest off-season so far... THANK GOD the season is FINALLY back!!!!! GMG!!!
  16. I really like the new logo...we really need THAT on our scoreboard. Jury is still out on the new shade of green, but it's growing on me. The first hat looks good. I wonder how long before the school book store has something like that? (we were just up there and they dont have a hat like those yet) You can still get your pink UNT hat though... GMG!!!
  17. Section E, Row 11. Seats are good, crowd is better. We sit right behind the Eagle Angels and recruits. Yelling and going crazy are okay in that section. We ceratinly do... GMG!!!
  18. I'm in for $50.00 Jeff. Anything to help.. GMG!!!
  19. I will bring a few jugs of Ice tea and will contribute to FFR's fund for the event. GMG!!!
  20. Coach Dickey was basically right.. I think he was refferring to Section E from last year. We started screaming "Why dont we risk it and throw ONE freakin pass to Quinn or Muzzy.....just try it????!!!"...during the last few games. My promise was not to yell at Coach Dickey last year, and I didnt. The man is greatness. I did, however yell at Ramon Flannigan. Somehow I always felt better afterwards. Now I wish I had started doing that years ago....hehehe. GMG!!!
  21. Ieans is a nice guy, but let's be honest. He throws a nice duck. We watched him in the spring workouts and in team drills. I wasnt sure which was worse..his delivery under pressure (the coaches seemed to agree with that), or his passes to ineligible receivers? He thew a nice deep ball to the right sideline. I asked who that one was meant for?, and one of the parents said "looks like Nick Bazaldua?" At times he would have a man open, and just couldnt get the ball there? In spring practices, there was one play where Devin Cox was on Brandon Jackson. Jackson ran a 15 and out, but Cox left the him and went 20 and out. When the ball went over Jackson's head, Cox had the only real play on it. We were joking on the sideline that Cox knew the ball wouldnt be where Jackson was. At 6-5, Ieans should stay as a possession WR. He is a good athlete with decent hands. If we really need him to play QB this year, we have some problems. I trust in DD, and believe he will have Meager ready to take the reigns. Ieans is a really good guy, and a good player...just not at QB, please? GMG!!!
  22. ["I beefed up cobbs and put him at fullback. mitchell got one carry in my game against lsu and busted it for 75 yards. i play on heisman, and running the ball is a breeze compared to passing. i'm like 8-20 throwing the ball every game. it sucks. "]...posted by taynt7 No kidding on the passing? J-Mo is on fire...but Quinn's catch percentage is lower than Byron Handspard's Texas-Tech GPA? I cant figure this out. On the lower levels (All-American or lower) he catches most passes. On Heisman level, he drops almost all of them? Oh well, will have to spend more time working with this one. On a brighter note...Nick Bazaldua made a 56 yarder to beat Florida Intl. Call me crazy, but it took a 56 yarder to beat FIU??? This game is outrageous!!! GMG!!!
  23. Great stuff! In dynasty mode, J-Mo has 1685 yards in 7 games. Cobbs has 734, but has 3 more TD's. On the other hand, Quinn has 6 receiving TD's...but drops at least 6 passes a game? There is NO WAY that would happen? I'm thinking about dropping back down to All-American so it will let him catch the freakin ball more? Side note: Meager is batting 500. (12 TD's thrown, 12 picks...but three of the picks were balls that bounced off of Quinn or Muzzy right to the defender.. As for the other picks, I tend to throw crossing routes into a three-deep zone. Sorry Danny????) GMG!!!
  24. Jeesh, it's one thing to be a good team..but do the fans also get a ring for a national title? Sending us links to videos, magazine articles and Lee Corso naratives doesnt do anything for this discussion? I respect any fan who backs his/her team with enthusiasm..but this is a bit much. Yes, we all know your team is very good... Yes, we know this is not exactly a matchup that favors us..., and YES..we are realists. That said, go back to your daily routines of hearding sheep or whatever it is you do? I cant speak for everyone, but I have no desire to have a bunch of LSU fans sending videos of their team for us to watch? We have the nations last TWO leading rushers..and four straight conference titles. I think I'll watch those videos instead. No, we are not going to contend for a national championship, but only two teams out of 118 will? LSU is a great team, but ease up on the selling your program to us? To get the title, you still have to get by USC. Send THEM your videos and tell THEM how great you know you are. If you want to talk smack on our board go for it.., we love that! I dont think we send our opponents Jamario Thomas video from last year? We just assume they will get a good look at the back of him as he is running by. AS for the LSU videos, magazines, and how great you know you are?, save that for your sheep and USC. (By the way, I do have you guys playing for the National Championship, and getting BEAT by Matt Leinart and his USC Monsters). Dont say it, we know... At least you'll be there, right? GMG!!! <_<
  25. Man, you guys are brutal today? (The rim shot was a nice touch). Meager is still nursing the shoulder, but is improving. He will be ready to go unless there is a setback. Harry will probably post some info in the Mean Green Report before too long, and he is usually right on top of things. DD usually gives us a "State of the Team" address right after fall workouts begin. We wont get the best info on our QB status until that time. But just in case, get ready Emmitt...practices start August 8th!!! GMG!!!
