I am hoping to hear that Hodge is named HC at the same time Grant announces he is leaving for Tech. Keep things moving forward. Our guy is already here. No need to bring in any outside uncertainty.

I have been expecting this all along, which has taken some of the sting away from Grant leaving. But, I will be extremely disappointed if Hodge is not the guy. My personal opinion is that everyone knew this was coming and the plan has always been for Hodge to eventually take over. Hodge is too good and would have been a head coach somewhere else. We need to build an identity (defense) and a coaching tree here. That is how you build a successful, consistent program especially when you are not a big money school. Boise State did this very well with their football program for many years.

I wish that I could laugh about that. Why would you think that is not possible ? Unfortunately, I agree and have already resigned myself to this happening 😞 Lubbock sucks. But, there are a lot of reasons why this makes sense for Grant right now. But, there is some light at the end of the tunnel IMO ........ The best thing for us to do is to continue to play the same slow paced system and smothering defense. We have built a unique identity that gives even the P5 schools fits. In order to do that, we need to retain the same staff (outside McCasland). That means offer Ross Hodge the HC job and hope he takes it. He is currently the associate head coach and has been with Grant all these years. He is a head coach in waiting. We don't need another HC coming in with their own philosophy. Keep this train rolling with what has worked for us. And, hope that Grant doesn't take a lot of the players with him.

Our defense is just incredible. If Grant does move on, please let Ross Hodge take over the team. We need to continue with the same philosophy and I don't think we would miss a beat.

Yeah. I wish that I could have saved the article link. It had a lot of good information overall about the tournament history. It was posted before the tournament actually started. And, I said CNN (typo). I believe it was ESPN or maybe CBS Sports.

I saw a CNN article yesterday pointing out various statistics regarding the NCAA Tourney. They mentioned North Texas as being the highest rated NET school (38) to not make the tournament. They also pointed out all the other teams that got at-large bids with lower NET ratings. Pittsburgh made the tournament with an at large bid and a NET rating of 67. This was a crime and the NET was supposed to stop this sort of bias. That same article mentioned that CUSA has won 5 of the last 7 first round tourney games with no seed being higher than 12. That's an amazing achievement that should be recognized. It's not.

If you went by NET alone, we would be in. The power conference bubble teams that ESPN has getting in all have NET ratings far below NT's. It's really ridiculous.

Wow. FAU has 2 sophomore players on the first team and 1 on the 3rd team. Sounds like they are going to be pretty good for the next few seasons barring transfers.

Still not sold on UTSA going forward. I want to see how well they do when Frank Harris finally leaves from his 100 year career at UTSA. They have been lucky as hell to retain him for this long, given the transfer portal opportunities.

This is the one guy I do not want to lose to the Portal.

What an amazing job this staff does every season. It seems like every year there is a lot of roster turnover and by the end we finish higher than the preseason predictions. I am really enjoying this 6 year ride, starting with the CBI championship.

Given how his NFL career turned out, I would bet that Torrey would have loved to play in that bowl game. Regrets can go both ways.
